If you want to make a pitstop on a random lap, you mist tell your team, i think you press select. And in career mode, if you corner cut the game auto slows you down, so you might wanna change your driving style

I'm an ardent fan of this game and have been playing this for so many years. In my honest opinion, you should keep somethings in mind: 1. If you want to pit midway through a race, press the select button. Theres a tiny house sign on the bottom left, and that needs to turn green before you box. The team will be ready for you then. 2. The sequence of buttons is the same for every normal pitstop (no wing changes). Do it a couple of times and you'll learn the sequence, but if you press the buttons too early, you'll have to wait the full 2 seconds as if you never pressed it 3. Stay off most kerbs. In my experience, you can ride the kerbs through chicanes but not necessarily through every corner. 4. On the bottom left, just under the map, you've got two symbols, these are for traction control and brake bias. Play with them a bit. It's a lot of fun to drive with the TC. Also, just switching off traction control in the assists doesn't work. You need to go into car settings and bring all TC presets to 0. 5. In case of fast corners like copse at silverstone or the first corner at hockenheim, you can go through there pretty much by just lifting a bit. However, be careful because after a couple of laps of doing that, you'll find the car wanting to spin out on you. The best way to tackle this is by downshifting and just tapping the brake before the corner. Better to be slightly slower than without a rear wing. 6. Make sure you practice at Silverstone, Magny Cours and Barcelona before you start career mode. You'll do better at the tests (yes you need to test for a team before you can get a contract) 7. There are random mechanical failures but not for you. Other cars will blow their engines and spin oil and you need to be bloody careful (no flashbacks here). You'll see the red and yellow flag and just stay off the racing line till you go past a line of oil. Its usually visible when you go past it. You will most likely spin off if you go over it 8. Driver behaviour - Schumacher, Alonso, Montoya and Raikkonen are particularly aggressive. I really hope you see this, i think it might help you in the career mode

+Count Fisco This really was one of those games to remain consistent you had to use a wheel. Online back in the day was extremely fun and crazily fast with this game. As for Tiametmarduk, the braking markers sat up on poles/fences rather than on the grass like Codemasters. Sadly it was the motion blur that made it hard to pick out. Drive around in time trial slowly and you can spot them. Time trial was rather unique as well as it took place on sunrise. It truly was a different better game on the Logitech G25 when I think back to 2008. Online races sure were hella fun when we all played on our wheels with all assists locked to off. I always hated the pits because not only had you to pay close attention to which buttons to press, press them too early or too late affected your time. Oh and if I remember correctly Budapest had the lovely slope into turn one with the banked right hander.

renault on this game was fastest as alonso won 2005 and 2006 championship, ferrari's and mclarens were close for 2nd fastest car, BAR honda weren't too far behind with williams toro rosso and toyota, with the rest behind at the back of the pack!

I used to play the PS2 version (F1 2006) a lot. This version is the Championship edition (Graphics were retouched in this game). In both the games, everything from the way the pre race sessions looked, how the standings were displayed, to the replay angle used after the race was completed was 100% spot on with the real thing, it was amazing how much work was put into it. The Codemasters ones we see nowadays are only superior graphically

In the career mode you can't pick any team. You'll have to do testing for either Toro Rosso, Midland or Super Aguri and do well in order to get a team. And you'll have to do really well, or else you're stuck as test driver :s Toro Rosso has the quickest car of the 3 but also the harder demands to get signed. Try and go for Midland or Super Aguri and then change mid season, that's my advice

f1 2006, the best f1 game ever. Also you have to press a button to tell your pit crew you are coming in if it's not during your designated pit window (I think select). I remember on the PSP version you could brake really late and as long as you manage to make the apex you could make a V out of the corner, by rotating the car and powering out full throttle. Also you should try Imola and Indianapolis, both really fun tracks.

For pit stops: The button sequence IIRC is always the same. If you have a playstation joystick you can press L1, L2, R1, R2 in one go, thus changing all four tyres more quickly.

If you drive aggressively on this game then it does reward you. Late breaking and early accelerating is seriously rewarded in this game I have found. The speed that can be taken into low speed corners is also surprisingly fast. Hope this piece of advice helps, I love this game and have chucked in so many hours and this is what I found

+Tiametmarduk Fastest teams are Renault, Ferrari and McLaren and slowest teams are Super Aguri and Marussia. In career mode you can be a test driver in better teams or be driver in worse teams and you can change teams in middle of the season. If you do good enough as test driver they will promote you to 2nd driver. But the teams are pretty equal I won two races on my first season with Super Aguri... AND REMEMBER THIS: IN CAREER MODE IT ALMOST ALWAYS RAINS IN MALAYSIA ;)

I was very surprised to hear you've never played this game. It's one of THE BEST F1 games made. The damage was amazing, the graphics were sick, the HUD was great (just like ITV Sport), the commentary didn't sound forced like F1 2015, engine sounds were incredible and all sounded unique, Career Mode was pretty immersive, TV mode (watching a race) was pretty entertaining, there was actually a formation lap making it more realistic, the podium. I'm sure there's plenty more reasons as to why this game was great, but there's a flavour. :P I'm sure someone like Aarav or Alex (AlexZAfro) did an F1 CE Career Mode, with lots of retirements... You should do one Ben!

I still wish I had this game. Its probably the best F1 game out til this day. It had formation lap and it had manual pit stops. I wish CM would do Manual pit stops,instead of always being a perfect automatic stop. Which never happens in F1. It could shake up the race off the track as well

I used to love playing this game. the damage was great. some people thought it was too sever but in recent games you can hit people and take almost no damage. also the AI were really aggressive but at least that meant you cant just bully them

Team performance in this game goes like this: 1 and 2. Ferrari, Renault (the OP cars, pretty much) 3 and 4. McLaren, Honda (not as quick but still regular race winners) 5 and 6 . Toyota, Williams (the midfield runners) 7 and 8. Red Bull, Sauber (lower midfield) 9. Toro Rosso (a strange car. It drives as well as the lower midfield runners but their limited V10 engine gives it a crappy top speed, no matter what you do with the aero. It has great acceleration though. So it does well in tracks like Monaco but when you have long straights you're pretty much a sitting duck) 10. Midland (one of the lower teams. Drives shit, but has decent top speed with the right setup) 11. Super Aguri (just horrible. No handling, shocking top speed. If you get a race win with this car, you're the man) Hope I helped you, Ben :)
