It's the masses and the lowest common denominator approach. Games quickly reached the "casual" layers, meaning that they now reach billions of users. And it's just incredibly profitable to just do a quick low effort asset flip - sometimes even with stolen assets - than it is to actually try to produce a good game, that requires effort. The masses are mostly ignorant and easy to trick.

They butchered Asphalt 8. Asphalt 9 is fine but Asphalt 8 is fully pay to win now. I miss the old asphalt 8. I want Asphalt 8 to return to it’s former glory. Away from this pay2win bullcrap.

It all went downhill as soon as they decreased the mastery payouts to a 1/100th of what they were. After that, I quit the game, since it was now impossible to get any cars, or even upgrade anything without paying for it. I went back recently, and it’s unrecognizable. It’s a shame.

Asphalt 9 is also unbearably P2W, not sure where you're getting the "fine" from.

I remember Gameloft vaguely, i only ever played their java games back in the days, never really stuck to me though, even on more modern devices I never considered gameloft games, admittedly, I am not a Mobile Gamer, I got one game on my phone and that's it.

Gameloft was THE SHIT back in the early 2010s for me. I remember my Blitz Brigade account getting corrupted and therefore lost all my weapons and items. But i randomly logged on to find that my account had been renewed with a bunch of golden guns and currency. What banger customer management!

Asphalt8 is literal garbage these days. It is borderline impossible to progress without spending unless you grind for 2 straight years to buy the most mediocre vehicle that is guaranteed to NOT win you a single race. I miss the glory days of good gameloft gaming

I remember their Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Jurassic Park games were the first phone games I paid actual money for on my second phone, an early Nokia smartphone, I think it might even have been back at the time when you still paid through SMS, and it blew my mind that you could get Gameboy quality games on your phone.

Glad I found this video. I've been playing and spending in Asphalt 9 for almost 2 years now. And let me tell you. It's the most greedy game I have ever experienced. Asking for anywhere from $100-$1,000 for a single car. You can't get 80% of the cars without either paying or farming premium currency for over a year for about 1-6 cars. Customer service is terrible and each platform has different unfair advantages. Xbox doesn't have ads so other platforms can watch a 30 second ad and get 20X the currency for a single race, while nintendo switch gets hundred's of dollars in value at a 90% discount since the platform is "behind". I honestly hope gameloft goes bankrupt, I can't smile any larger seeing that picture of Gameloft's profits sinking yearly.

@@theliggi it’s crazy because all it needed was content and a obviously some mechanic tweaks but the theme was good graphics characters and weapons were good. I’ll always love comics style animation. Good times

6:48 When NOVA 3 was completely removed from the app store, that should've been my warning signs because that games was so much fun to play. And the real trouble came when Spiderman Unlimited was removed on May 2019, THAT was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

Just bought a new phone. Didn't played any kind of games for at least a couple of years so went to get some, and the first name I could come up with was Gameloft. I pretty sure many people still go by the name of Gameloft itself, maybe it's a tradition or a nostalgia, but the name of Gameloft is still there.

As someone whose been a gamer AND rabid collector of video games, this video is even more of a reason I am fascinated by mobile games. If you're a fan of traditional video games, every new console would be discussed at nauseam to make sure that you wanted to buy them; hell, its the entire gaming side of the Internet's job to make games A) known by a wide audience and B) have lots of gameplay/graphical polish so that they look better than the competition and C) generate excitement and "hype" around every detail of a game even if it doesn't warrant it. Mobile games are in this unique video game sidecar in which - though they're more profitable than literally every other game console on the market - nobody talks about them, their history, or what the best games are on the platform - even if you want to get into it! Granted, mobile game history is difficult to study its history because - much like MMOs - the second a game is no longer profitable, those servers are cut off preventing the other gaming audiences to experience them, but still, if this were Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft? When the big three want you to buy something, gaming websites WILL NOT let you forget about those games for months if not years - even if (like the Last Guardian) it hasn't been worked on for over a decade! thank you for the video, I really appreciate your insight!

What an irony, a pajeet explains what copying is while most of their entertainment industry is made out of cheap copies of Hollywood and South in the name of inspiration.
