I'm not a Fernando fan at all (Schumi is my guy) but people severely underestimate how well Fernando drove this season. He had to integrate himself to a brand new team/car with a different tire company. Not only that he had to completely change and overhaul his driving style that he was comfortable using for 4 seasons with the Renault/Michelin combination. Lewis yes he was a rookie but he was groomed by Mclaren for years and years developing programs for him to fast immediately. He had the major advantage of working with Mclaren for quite a long time. Fernando is the ultimate master of adapting to changes. Thats why he is this generations best, put him in any car and he'll make the adaptations to go fast.

Dude, nothing - *_NOTHING_* - is as valuable as experience; Alonso had 6 seasons under his belt and 2 world titles (one of this when he came out on top of a straight battle with one of the greatest drivers of all time) by the time Hamilton joined. Hamilton was a complete rookie and when he first tested for Mclaren, he spun and was 0.6 down on De La Rosa; at first, they weren't even sure they would put him in the team. But Lewis was so annoyed at being beaten by De La Rosa, that the next time he went out, he blitzed De La Rosa's time and that's when everyone took notice. Alonso held all the main cards and the fact that Lewis beat him as a rookie is a phenomenal achievement and it should not be a surprise to everyone that he now holds all the major records.

@@neilwilliams2883 yea but Lewis performance diminishes the moment you found out Mclaren has been deliberately screwing with Fernando. Lewis tested Mclaren cars since 2004 and racked up for 40000kms on them. Ofcourse he was gonna be quick. People act like he just sat in the car and went faster than Fernando which is not true. The car was newer to Fernando then it was to Lewis. I fully believe without the helping hand from Ron to Lewis and team heavily backing him Alonso would have won this title easily.

Not perfection at all. He was 3 on the quali. On this era you dont know how many fuel has the car. Alonso made worse quali but he managed second on the race becuase of fuel

What I mean is that on this era you can not see what lap is better made because every one had different fuel for the race and you really dont know. @@geramos109 This was the Q2 lap, everyone was on the same fuel and Alonso was fastest. On Q3 Hamilton was only slightly faster with a much lighter car (4 or 5 laps worth of fuel less IIRC). So even the Q3 lap was probably the best out there, adjusting for weight. That said, this was the exception. On your average 2007 weekend, Hamilton would've gone faster on qualifying and more often than not also on the race. The pressure really got to Alonso on that year, because when he was comfortable he still had pace. It wasn't like he didn't understand the car or something, lacking mental strength was his problem.

Is probably the Q2, I was trying to search the moment in the video as precise as possible, at 0:09 start his lap and at 1:28 he is in the same place as in the moment 0:09. It can't be the Q3 because at 1:28 he is a tenths to finish the lap. But have to be the very precise moment because the calculation can easily be wrong.

Nicolas Soto He did 1.19.3 in Q1 and 1.19.2 in Q2, you cant be that precise. In Q3 all top drivers used option.

Q2 Lap this is. Saw this before this was uploaded in youtube. I had it in .avi from F1 video forums. I remember excatly these lines. Oh that good old Stowe the first turn & Bridghe has been no longer since 2009. Goold old days. So also no longer my John Cash channel thanks to FOM. :(

Kimi would have put that McLaren on pole easily. Honestly this is an average lap compared to Kimi's psychotic lap in 2004 and Michael's masterpiece lap in 2001. Those were the best laps I have ever seen around this circuit.

His lap was not ragged at all in the first sector it was unbelievably quick, its just the car was set up to be slow in that sector and quicker around the lap, there are onboards where you can compare. Also through Vale and Club Kimi is WAY better than Alonso. You clearly need to watch more. Raikkonen and Schumacher's lap was a lot better than this one. Alonso has slow mid corner speed you can see he does not have the same mid apex speed as a Kimi or Schumi when those guys have the car set up right. Hamilton outqualified him here as well.
