Think this was the race that Mercedes realised Schumi was no longer upto the task, that crash with verne was just poor judgement. Shame really it all ended like that as imagine if Schumacher was in the team from 2013 onwards

He was the fastest didn't make many mistakes like Alonso but although Alonso was brilliant ham should have won title. I'm probably slightly biast since I'm a ham fan though...

@@F1Hub-fw8un The thing that makes Alonsos season legendary, is that he capitalised on absolutely every opportunity that season. His only poles are in the wet, the only time when the field is somewhat equalised and talent is what shows, his only wins are from pulling off absolute miracle drives where the risk were absolute, like Malaysia where with a car that under normal conditions wasn't Q3 worthy, he somehow managed to win in the wet, through brilliant judgment of conditions and overtakes. Valencia was only possible due to his amazing race craft and ability to make most of safety car restarts to get the jump on multiple faster cars. He basically had to take maximum risks all season (race starts, qualifying, wet weather) just to have a chance to compete with others with better cars. Hamilton, although he drove well this season, he did have a very good car underneath him and shall we say he didn't need to be absolutely flawless, he could mess up a race start and come back, he didn't need to make the most of every wet qualifying because on average pole was usually attainable. What fucked his season was strategy and obviously DNFs but nevertheless, he didn't put in any timeless drives or amazing overtakes like Alonso had to do just about every race just to remain in contention.

The only mistake you could say is Japan start but even that was considered an unfortunate racing incident. If you look at mistakes and maximizing weekends Alonso was definatelly the best driver of 2012
