Couldn't afford an Amiga mate I was only a kid. Took me ages to get my parents to get me a ST! Had to save and put my own money towards to get one. Remember selling my Spectrum Plus 3 to put the money towards the ST. The ST was still a great machine.
@techtipsuk8 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Amiga was a superior machine but I couldn't afford one in those days. I did get an Amiga years later when they brought out the Amiga 1200. When I had my ST though it was back in the days of the Amiga 500. I always remember me and my mates going to a computer shop and seeing a game called Blood Money on the Amiga and we were totally and utterly blown away by it. We were like fucking its got digitised speech and everything. Those were the days when games were real games. They were fucking rock hard too. Stunt Car racer was good. Can you remember a game called Test Drive? that was also very good. My first F1 game though was Grand Prix 3. I fucking loved that game. Played it for hours and hours. Even bought the DLC or expansion pack as they were called in those days, the 2000 Season. Add on content back in those days was brilliant was nearly always good value.

For years I've searched for a realistic, immersive car game to go along with my deep passion for cars. Going after what my father used to like, I went through all the Need For Speed games but they only got worse and worse. I've tried Driver San Francisco, Test Drive Unlimited, Beamng Drive, Grid, The Next Car game and of course, GTA is amazing when it comes to cars, but it is not made professionally/realistically in order to be enjoyed by an enthusiast. And now, in 2016, I FINALLY found the answer. FORZA! I bought an xbox one just so I could play Forza Motorsport 6. The first day, I completely fell in love with it. It is SO professionally made! The number and quality of the vehicles is stunning and the graphics and sound are simply mind blowing. In this game, there is much more than just the racing part. My absolute favorite feature is "Forza Vista". I spend 60% of the time in this game in the Forza Vista mode, just going around my cars, hearing their story and revving their engine. And the music, THE MUSIC! It is just SO relaxing and makes your dream so hard and deep. I love the fact that the game focuses a hole lot on the history of cars and tracks (unlike NFS). The introduction actually made me cry. And a few days later, I bought Forza Horizon 2. ANOTHER GREAT GAME! Horizon 2 makes a really good contrast to Motorsports 6: It is basically a big party! The Horizon Festival is sick just like the music and all the animators. Boy, can't wait for Horizon 3 to come out. 27 September, see you in line at EB games!

Now I am a huge fan of F1 and preordered every game. Your review is on point how this years game has a lot of improvements. Love the videos, as ever great quality with enough information interspersed with the opinion/humor that makes for a very entertaining 13 mins. I too have played the vast majority of racing games (skipped the odd F1 20xx franchise though) and I must say that this is the best one I have played in a very long time. Running an I7 with a GTX 1080 and everything on ultra makes racing in the rain an experience that is only rivaled in intensity by running the Nurbugring in heavy rain (Project Cars). A clear step away from the all or nothing grip levels of the past the 2016 cars feel twitchy under power but still provided excellent Force Feedback through the wheel. I could detect any input lag, something I have had issues with in previous F1 titles, and always felt that a spin or a crash was due to the pink fleshy interface behind the wheel rather than some unpredictable physics generated by the game engine. Yes there are a few bugs right now, having to force V Sync on my 144Hz G-Sync so I could read a menu was an issue.Sometimes your race engineer gives you incorrect or misleading information and I have experienced issues with flashbacks keeping flags or penalties going even though technically the incident never happened. I agree that pit procedures should be 100% under the players control but it is a minor thing in my opinion. These all feel minor and nothing game breaking, I predict the first major patch or hotfix will correct these issues. A nice addition is the voice commands, although they can be a little annoying at times. 75% of the time they provided a quick update on tyres, fuel or the gap to drivers in front, the remaining 25% of the time I had to repeat my voice command and this was a distraction. That said the process did involve less time fiddling with buttons or glancing away at the screen. The ability to leave fuel, brake etc setting menus open in the bottom left was a pleasant improvement also, meaning I could adjust fuel or brake bias on the fly rather than having to open a menu on the d pad, press left, press up, press left etc well you get the idea. Now I can shave tenths on a lap just with fuel management or conserve fuel ready for the attack when my tyres are fresh. All in all I totally agree with you on this one and keep up the fantastic work. Cheers mate.

This is the best one yet from Codemasters. They have basically nailed the formula (of the game) at this point. They should work on improving the handling without assists so that it's not just a cheap ass difficulty curve. I understand that the current cars have ridiculous torque curves, but they can't be this ridiculously difficult to drive?! You can treat the throttle with full loving tenderness and it will still freak out, smash you into the nearest wall, and take you to court for rape. I wish they would stick with this and do a fairly priced DLC every year to modify any track layouts, drivers, cars etc. However, 2017 will be a completely new formula (in the sport) so we're going to get a new game. Oh well, I'm a tool so I'll get that too.

I just wished they'd include cars from the past so you can make a championship from 1991 for example and on F1 2017 have cars from 1992 and so on for 2018. Even as dlc that would be great. Or go the F1 Challenge 99-02 route, where they bundled four seasons together. To me, $60 for just one season of racing is too much to justify buying it.
