Actually I think both issues happened because of high levels of wear and this stuff could definitely happen before, so random failures I don’t think are a thing unfortunately or fortunately depending on your point of view. This is why I always upgrade the gearbox reliability to max early and take penalties early to avoid this issue until it is maxed. I’m also generally conservative on tyre strategy though that’s more because I’m so much slower on worn rubber that’s it’s usually worth making an additional stop.

Also he is revving too high while the ICE is starting to show some signs of wear and the gearbox fails. Not mentionning the fact that he is going so high in the RPM range while driving in wet conditions which is useless.

If you want to go out at the right time, you just have to go out a minute earlier than a normal quali time. For example, if the quali time is around 1:30, then you should go out 2:30 before the session ends.

If you drive out of the pits instead of doing a flying lap then you can go out with about 2 minutes to go in a session

Is it possible in this game to set the rev limiter to 11500 or 11750 rpm? This measure could reduce the wear & tear of the engine, increasing it's lifespan... rev limiter is a great tool that can help you strike a balance between performance and durability imo.
