F1 2021 Beginner Races - Are They REALLY For Beginners?

F1 2021 has a new beginner friendly mode for online races. So I thought I was the right person to dive in and see if Beginner Friendly mode really was suitable for beginners!

@@McPlayer8t The problem is when those people move out of beginner mode and have no knowledge or experience how to race with other people, and will inevitably just ruin the races of the people they punt off. There should be at least some contact possible in this mode, 100% ghosting just encourages bad habits.

@@zvexevz Completely agree with both your points... Perhaps Codemasters can introduce an update in which beginner is divided into two types? (Contactless and slight contact, maybe?!)...

I've known for a long time that Scott can't drive, but now I've also learned that he can't read. It says it right there in the description of the mode: collisions are off.

I don’t get how Scott can drive reasonably well at Hungary, one of the most difficult tracks on the game, then be all over the shop on China and Canada which are comparatively easy (IMHO)

Yeah, China is pretty easy, but I find Canada has its challenges. For me, Catalunya, Monaco, COTA, and Hungaroring are the worst.

Beginner Friendly doesn't help anyone. Instead of training players to drive and race properly, now they'll just graduate to more advanced races not knowing any skills or etiquette and just piss even more people off. At least turn off ghosting so beginners can learn some sort of spatial awareness. And I don't know if you can consider P1 being 6 seconds off the esport TT pace "being sweaty".

I raced a lot of ranked races in the previous F1 titles with collison/damage were on and I witnessed it al from getting brakechecked at 300kph or getting rammed when im taking over another driver. These beginner lobbies are perfect for me, since a lot of people dont respect the rules. Dont like the cornercutting being on average and that 1 shot qualifier. Random starts for everyone, cornercutting on strict with no contact would be perfect for me.

That is a great game mode. The Pro’s will move up. The ghosting is great. You can learn how to race pick your lines and no one can ruin it.

I drove the weekly event today... Mayhem in every single corner even got rammed into the wall 1 second after start but still managed to get a last to third

So, I finally checked out beginner friendly. I'm at roughly 81% Ai level, which isn't great I know, but in there are drivers who lap more than a second quicker than me. And the ghosting means you can't even defend. I started Brazil from pole, led until the first DRS-zone of the last lap and was swallowed up over the remaining two thirds of the lap. Wtf!?
