The flag section is quite poor. So for those actually watching F1, the more correct overview of the flags, from a flag marhsal: Green - go go go is fine, though the actual meaning of the flag is that the tack is clear and racing is allowed on the circuit following the flag (until it is disallowed as would be indicated by other flags), this flag has a few other uses as well Yellow - it doesn't mean incident, though it is always shown preceding one, yellow flag means that racing is not allowed (until allowed again, again as indicated by other flags) In typical motorsport there are 4 states of this flag: 1st state, under FIA rules single waving, means that racing is not allowed but whatever is causing this is condition is not on the racing surface 2nd state, under FIA rules double waving, means that racing is not allowed and something is obstructing the racing surface 3rd state, under FIA yellow flag with an SC board, meaning that racing is not allowed on the entire track and in FIA case that Safety Car is deployed 4th state, under FIA yellow flag with a VSC board, when deployment of a SC is not deemed required but as also is the case with the SC racing is not allowed and speed limits are imposed. Yellow with Red stripes - means that the racing surface is somehow compromised ahead, this would be shown when conditions change - rain starts in a sector, if there is some liquid on the track, or if there is debris on track, there are a few other times this will be shown White - at start it indicates last lap, everywhere else, it indicates a vehicle moving on track significantly slower than race pace. Blue - the actual meaning of this flag is that there is a faster vehicle coming up behind you that you are not racing, it is one of the most difficult and fun flags in multi class endurance racing, in F1, however, it is a command and you are to let the car coming up behind you pass at the earliest opportunity. Black with a Red Circle - you won't see this in F1 often, but, this flag is shown with a car number board, and indicates that there is an issue with your vehicle that can endanger you or others and you are to come into the pits by the end of the lap. It is affectionately called the meatball flag, to let you know that your Ferrari broke again. Black - shown with a number board, this informs the driver concerned that they must stop at their pit or at the place designated in the supplementary or championship regulations on the next approach to the pit entry 1/2 Black 1/2 White - shown with a number board, it is a warning to the driver concerned that he has been reported for unsportsmanlike behavior Red - the session is stopped, meaning that there is no racing, and everyone has to significantly reduce speed and proceed to the pits Checker - meaning the session has ended, and at the end of the race, until last year, it also reminded you that even though you may have thought you won, Mercedes guys are probably already out of their cars, heading up to the podium.
