If you just pick a setup of someone at top of leader board you not going to know if its any good, the average player doesn't have a few thousand pound rig like they do, and less likely know how the setup changes affect the car like the youtube twitch people do, you watch them on a lap then they be like yeah bang bang that's that handling of the car sorted and you like, wait, what, average player doesn't know what to change on car to make their driving get faster

Agreed, this is a quick and easy way to see what an optimally 'fast' setup that will give them a higher ceiling of laptime looks like. But you also need to be able to drive it! So certainly worth experimenting with and learning more about setups tweaks if the player has the time and patience to do so.
