On games that need a remake or at the very least a remaster, this one has always been in my top 3. Extremely unlikely to happen, I know, but one can only wish. Shame we never got The Getaway 3 for PS3. There was even a tech demo for it back in the day :(

Raceroom is an awesome game. For me it feels like Forza Motorsport 4 on steroids.

I cherish Supertourers more than any category of touring cars. It's the category that connects British, Australian and German racing fans, providing them with some of the best racing ever. It's a shame that German and Australian fans back then were not satisfied with super tourers and wanted their high-tech V8 firebreathers back, a wish fulfilled in both cases eventually. Nowadays, both regret not being as invested in ATCC or STW as they should have been. One person in the comments section of a VHS-ripped coverage of an STW race put it best when he said: "Back then, I laughed at the STW. Nowadays i want it back." It's such a delight that KW did not forget about Supertourers. Now Frank Biela can finally race himself, his BTCC car and his STW car facing off everywhere between Knockhill and the Salzburgring!

Australia had its own Split, and two Bathurst 1000s. Just think on that for a moment. Super Tourers running the Mountain, then you had the V8s with their own Bathurst 1000 as well, and to this day ther's still controversy over the record books over if the races are counted, who won what, when, why and where

This is going to sound remarkably petty, but I really wish they'd add some variety on the trackside ads. It's all KW stuff. Same signs, every corner, every bridge, etc. It literally feels like I'm driving around in a KW Infomercial. I get they want to promote their brand, but when it gets to the point where EVERY track, EVERY Corner, EVERY bridge, is the same darned advertising....the immersion just goes into the crapper.

Super Touring was just a very special period of motorsport history. I think these will always be my favourite cars to watch and to drive in sims. I've already re-installed RRRE in anticipation!

What I misses most is the simplicity of modding. Steam Workshop broke modding, is not a mistery that a mod is not a professionally developed and copyrighted game, I don't understand why I shouldn't be able to modify a mod. This killed the Rfactor hobby. And, obviously, there's a lack of clear information on how to isolate a mod from online gaming. There's been too much focus on e-sports, ignoring the old customers that used to download a car, typical example from somebody who has made the polygonal model, then playing on my own developing physics and sounds, initially for personal use but then, why not, asking the author of the downloadable mod to take a look at my work. If mods are not moddable, I'm sorry but I find an higher quality by paying a little more for an ummodable game, that remains still cheaper than a robustly DLCed R3E or Rf2. ps: Rf1 already had e-sports features, I don't know well because I don't e-sport, but at time I heard that on RfC there were prized races, anticheating was based on .hdv check, as all IS engined games, there was also a degree of freedom left to the clients about .sfx and .hed, then custom skins so probably also the .gen, so, an anticheat used to exist. And base cars, mmh, encrypted files, slightly different from Rf1 where base cars had files filled with explaination of the various parameters, making an enjoyable experience for the user starting modding

Great video, very informative and nicely presented. I absolutely adored Touring cars because of SEGA games like Sega touring car and Scud race all fueled by Sunday bbc Sunday racing TV, I am dying for this in GT7 but Raceroom have capitalised on a niche we all want in racesims gaming!! Great work! 😅👍😎🤘

I agree 100% historic content is what sim racing is all about imo. Arguably anyone w money can race but all the money in the world wont bring door to door group 5 or group c back with those same cars.

I remember GTR EVO where my favorite class was the WTCC Extreme. They were 600hp touring cars which just put a smile on my face every time because they were lively and you had to manhandle them a bit. I felt that was the rally group B of tarmac racing.

Burnout 3, MX Unleashed, NFS Underground 2 and Gran Turismo 4 are all among my favorite racing games of all time. The 2000s were the best decade for racing games from start to end, with 2004 as the peak. No other decade comes close.

I got this sim near the launch date and have been enjoying it for 20 years starting with keyboard, then Logitech G25, and now Fanatec CSL DD. I have Dirt rally 2.0 and can play it 4K60 on my gaming rig but rarely doing this. All rally "sims" I tried since RBR emerged got only cosmetic improvements. No one reached the physics realism - all feels like you are riding the sleds imitating a car, not a four wheeler. The only BeamNG got close enough, but it has a bit exaggerated physics with emphasis on flexible bodies.

I made a financial mistake lately... buying EA WRC! For months I was massively frustrated by it... in the end I updated RSF, drove one stage and immediately uninstalled that EA crap! ! I have fond memories of competing against Jon Armstrong and Craig Breen during the lock downs of 2020 on RBR in the "Virtual GrpN Irish Tarmac Rally Championship"... coming to stage ends out of breath and completely elated by my pace and the fact that I had simply managed to survive another brutal stage!! Nothing comes close to the feel and sensation of RBR... and who ever manages to top it, will be nothing short of a god!

I cannot wait to get behind the wheels of these 90's beasts. My favourite has to be either the Volvo S40 or the Nissan Primera. I've tried mods of the super tourers on rFactor 2 but there's something missing with them.
