The worst Mclaren in that decade on stats, pace and reliability was 2004. A hideous thing given to Kimi. They didn't even race their 2003 car the year before that and the 2002 car was used for a whole second season.

Ah the infamous Monza race where Massa accused Alonso of impeding him in qualifying. Massa was 100 meters behind Alonso. The stewards ruled that Alonso didn't intentionally impede Massa as Alonso had a puncture and damage to his car but they gave Alonso a 10 grid penalty anyway. The controversial decision was met with a lot of criticism from drivers, former drivers and the public.

@22jb29
@22jb29 7 жыл бұрын
+Number One His team mate didn't move over for him countless times you stupid idiot. Most of the time Schumacher scored twice as many points as his team mates. The most extreme occassion was at Benetton in 1994 when Schumacher had 3 different team mates (Jos Verstappen, JJ Letho and Johny Herbert) and the three of them scored 11 points combined while Schumacher scored 92 and won the championship. Barrichello moved over like twice in 5 years, he didn't have to do it too much because he was slower anyway. And Schumacher returned the favour when his championship title was almost certain like in Indianapolis in 2002 when he slowed down on the last lap right before the finish line to give the victory to Rubens.

@@ShaoKhanWarriorTenis Yeah. it's all ways been regulations help a team in dominance. Williams had the assists in 93 to win Prost the title. 2009 had the aero changes that added in the double diffuser loophole which gave brawn gp a easy championship. Redbull then hooked on to the dominance until 2014 when Mercedes had the best V6 engine. Apparently they were designing it almost half a decade before the regulations came in.

I had grown up watching Schumi as an F1 fan. My earliest memory is seeing him break his leg, and still finish 5th in a championship (1999). I was sat at home with the radio on playing an online game and heard him talking and it clicked he was speaking in a different way. When I heard him say about retiring I was stunned. He was then, and is still in my eyes, the greatest driver to have graced the grid. It still doesn't feel right seeing the scarlet car and his starred helmet on the track. This man was my childhood hero. I do remember this Grand Prix. I was watching it live and I was 13. I was actually crying when Schumi made this announcement. I thought it was an end to an era and it was. It was the era of the impossible. For the first time in modern history Schumi and the Old Ferrari team showed what it was like to dominate F1. I have no doubt that Lewis is a remarkable sportsman and a talent of the sport , but you can not deny that this man, AKA the Red Baron, showed for the first time what it was like to own this sport. In Red Blood. Forever. God Speed to You, Michael. Fight. We are thinking of you. You will always be my childhood and my hero. Respect.

This is the last time I remember watching F1 as a teenager. I came back after some years but I found out a totally different sport. New talents of course, but something lacked profoundly. Some weeks ago I was with my dad in our car and we were talking about Michael and he said to me, if he wasn't such an extraordinary man who accomplished so much with racing, they would have taken him off life support already. Made me cry and I looked the other way. Life is terribly unpredictable sometimes. It can end abruptly and for Michael it's been like this for years now. Lingering between everything and nothing, out of consciousness. If he doesn't recover, which unfortunately is almost guaranteed at this stage, I hope he can feel how much he means to us.

Yeah he is talking about Kimi. Because Kimi made his time very hard. 2003 awesome season. 2004, Kimi lost the championship by 1 Point. 2005. seriously one of the best season where Kimi was the fastest fuy by like a half second...

@@Pal42_ Sorry but in 2004 McLaren had the 6th fastest car on the grid and the most unreliable as well. Kimi still managed to win a race while Alonso won zero. Kimi nearly won the 2003 title (2 pts difference) in a one year old McLaren as well. Guy was just the fastest in the world and a freak on the Michelin tyre.

Sadly not true now in 2021. Whatever happens FIA will never attempt to stop Mercedes from winning. They clearly want Lewis as the most succesful driver in F1. And all that to show political message to the world. What a shame...

There is a possibility that Lewis or maybe even Seb will get close and perhaps maybe even better Michael's records but one thing we should never forget is that Michael started with Jordan > Benetton > Ferrari and none of those teams had decent cars at the time he joined and he was the driving force that lifted them above what they were cable of. Lewis on other hand started off straight into a front running Mclaren that was arguably the best car on the track at times, then even when Red Bull emerged the Mclaren was still fairly competitive up to 2012 and then again he had a dominant car at Mercedes in 2014. Seb also has had great cars from the beginning with Torro Rosso (maybe not as good as Lewis having a Mclaren but it was a decent car that could pick up the odd win or high points scoring position) and then he had a dominant Red Bull. If Michael had chosen a dominant car after Benetton he could have easily won maybe 4 more world championships, most people only remember the domination from 2000-2004 but for me Michael was at his absolute peak between 1996-2000 and if he didn't have to wait for the Ferrari to catch up to the rest of the field in that time he would have had a lot more pole positions and a lot more victories.

Eugene Naidoo The Ferrari was dominant for 10 years. Your making out the ferrari was Crap I mean yeah he is a good driver but if he never went to Ferrari he wouldn't even be close to 7 world championships.

Ferrari haven't won any championship for 21 years when Michael got his first title with them in 2000. The last one was in 1979 Jody Scheckter. For example the Williams of 1996 was way better. Ferrari still was one of the better teams but they were not dominant in any kind of way. That dominance started in 2000 and was a result of the potential of the team and Michael making the best out of it. Probably Mercedes wouldn't be where they are now without Michael.

Eugene Naidoo Schumacher had by far the best car for 80% of his career too. He's pretty good, but also used dirty tactics and abused his teammate, which never gave him much of a challenge either. Yeah, Hamilton and Vettel are not that good either in my opinion, they also had OP cars and easy teammates. I think the best driver ever is Senna, maybe Alonso. Also Verstappen looks really promising, if he can iron out some bad things about his driving. Those are truly skillfull drivers.

Schumi is the greatest F1 driver in my eyes. He had the raw pace and strategic intelligence of both Senna and Prost combined. Not to mention he played a huge part in car development with his technical genius and feedback, helping Brawn Bryne and co build race winning machines. Ferrari hadn't won anything for a long time before he came in.
