No one who has a clue of this sport is underrating Prost. He can also be seen as the best of all time. Look at his stats and facts. The amount of world champion teammates he beat. He never had an Nr.2 driver. With this kind of support he could have easily become a 7 time world champion with a 100 wins.

You know whats crazy? Back in those days we saw many drivers with different driving styles, and we saw two big drivers with completely opposite driving styles, Prost with the ultra smooth and precise style and Senna with the wild and loose on edge style, both driving at very similar pace. We will never see that again with how heavy and bulky modern cars are, nowadays all drivers drive the same and take the same lines

@@R9naldo, 2 of the best. The 2, seem to be each others' missing piece of the puzzle, just my view. Seems to me, if Senna drove in a less aggressive manner and leave a bit of margin for error, we get a Prost. If Prost drove in a bit more spectacular way, take risks, we get a Senna. Prost made it look easy here. For me, Prost at Ferrari in 1990 probably his best season.

Alain Prost (2011)

not anyone can drive these cars back then, these men are cut from a different cloth than todays drivers. these guys risk their lives unlike the drivers today. one mistake its over. we will never see bravery again in racing, admiration is a thing of the past.

@fedbet9093 жыл бұрын
@Johnny Courtemanche you are correct but Picklewiickle doesn’t say anything wrong. Back then the cars were way harder, firmer and more dangerous than the current f1. I’m not saying today’s drivers are bad, they just have easier circuits and the cars have a lot of electronic.
@omarcasali53012 жыл бұрын
The fact that not many people dying in F1 doesn't mean that today's drivers are less brave than the oldest. The entire today concept of how F1 racing should be, it's a consequence of the drivers of those days they were tired of being treated like meat for the mere entertainment of the audience in the circuits and from home.. and by the way, it's a miracle that, since Jules Bianchi has died, no other drivers (In F1) are died. We've seen a lot of deadly incident and nothing happened. For me, it's enough. And if you watch other races of other categories you'll see very well that pilot still dying I'm course today. So?

It's the most exciting onboard sound I've ever heard in an F1, even better than the V10. For me today there is only one engine, and it's a street engine, which raises my adrenaline in that way and it is that of the Porsche 911 GT3 or almost better that of the Cayman GT4 RS which, being the same engine, is even sharper due to the different exhaust design.

There are a lot of engine mate. Watch and listen to BMW masterpieces like the S54 S65 S85 engine. Or Honda F20c little 4 cylinder engine. You won’t be disappointed Or Ferrari 458 You will thank me later

@@kayzenl7911 Tastes, opinions and colors must be respected. Or rather, as is said in a Clint Eastwood movie, opinions are like asses, we all have one. I know perfectly the sounds of Ferrari engines. I prefer the V12 F1 engines from the early 90s from the time of Mansell, Berger, Prost or Alesi. Heady sound on high revs. I don't like the inline 5 cil. like Audi or Fiat group engines. The 4 cyl engines in line of the BMW M3 E30 or those of the Mercedes 190 2.3 16 or 2.5 16 from the DTM era, with that metallic roar they were also quite addictive. I find the cross-crankshaft V8s horrendous, the flat-plane crankshaft ones (like a Ferrari engines) (sound, very similar to the inline 4 engines) I already like them a little more but without too enthusiasm. And they are opinions, leaving aside the affinity for some brands or others.

can someone explain, other videos from this era they show the cars with legit stick shifts...Prost cleartly has paddle shift. Was it a choice thing or why were some cars were different gearbox?
@StefMeister2011 Жыл бұрын
It was because paddle shift was a new technology to F1 & not everyone had developed there own system with some simply not having the budget to do so. Ferrari were the first to come up with the paddle shift system in 1989 (Was Designer John Barnards idea), Williams came up with there version in 1991, McLaren introduced there's in 1992 & then most of the rest introduced it in 1993/94 although some of the smallest teams were using sequential stick shift (Like you still see in Touring cars) rather than paddles as it was cheaper. John Talks about why he came up with the idea at the start of this podcast. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIepe4GumJedjsk
