Fabulous circuit. Now all drivers compete in similar cars on incredibly boring tracks. I’m glad I spectated through the 70’s and 80’s. God bless them all.

@DiTechRacer666 Note the number 1 which identifies the car Peterson. In fact, since '74 it was decided to adopt a fixed number of formula. Retired the world champion Jackie Stewart, the numbers were distributed according to the classification of the 1973 Constructors' Cup win just by Lotus.

What a circuit the old Österiechring was whit its ups and downs and high speed slipstreaming.

+gotham61, It seems Regazzoni might have played a part in the slow stop. The mechanics were telling him to stop revving, and when the left rear-wheel was placed on the axle, the moving axle seemed to throw it off straight away.

one thing that i've never understood about historic F1 .. the cars are rolling prior to the green light. why not mandate they be stopped to ensure no advantage is gained.

@idak12 His team mate was Icks. For the number I think because the previous champion Stewart was retired and no 1 goes to teh team champion.

Why is Ronnie Peterson N01 and who was his team mate
@fabianrocha99243 жыл бұрын
I dont know why he was number 1 but his Teammate was Jacky Ickx Edit: Actually according to a Website I found: Up to 1973, the numbers were given out by the race organisers. But midway through 1973, permanent numbers were trialled, and in 1974, permanent numbers were issued based on the Constructors' Championship positions in 1973. Since the 1973 World Champion, Jackie Stewart, left F1 at the end of 1973, the team leader for the constructors champion (Ronnie Peterson) drove the No. 1 car in 1974.

That Ferrari pit stop looked like the keystone cops. Almost 40 seconds to change just two tires. Today they can change all 4 tires in 3 seconds.
