Some things I do in my save - Upgrade Drivers control to maximum so that they make as few mistakes as possible. - Try to one stop M-H or H-M if my driver bottled quali and isn't near the front - Use aggressive on the tyre usage as this gives pace and they can do it because I've upgraded their control

You showed me things that I didn’t even know existed in the game which means maybe I should pay more attention to the game UI but really good video. you can switch to "track" in the pit stop strategy. there you can see the track condition with grip and waterlevel.above 2/3 of the waterlevel are Wet conditions.

I had a race in Australia where my engineers put the cars on inters for a wet race and we managed to snag points for Aston Martin in season one. I had to trust the engineers for that one because it said it was raining on my info.

you can also click on the track tab in the top right and see what the water level will do, one race it was going to rain around lap 5, i started the race on inters and took it steady, worked wonders as every pitted and for about 10 laps i had stroll and vettel running p1 and 2 (until redbull, ferrari and mercedes cut their way through traffic)

the problem with the rain display is that I can never figure out which tyres to put on. The game doesn't do a good job at predicting that. How am I supposed to know that? The AI never messes that up. Then again, they never plan for rain in the first place.

@@ianresc3615 on the Track information it gives you the water level at which an intermediate would be used and the wets. You can kind of guess with graph to which wets would be used. Intermediates Seem to used for most of of the time and the wets used when the graph is almost at it highest.

On Barcelona, you can one stop softs to medium. Pit as close to lap 30 as your driver can manage. Don't push on the tyres until the end.

My set up depends massively on car and driver. However I normally add 1 lap of extra fuel so that my drivers can reduce their lift and coast. With fuel aggression at max I leave tyres on medium. Pushing on fuel doesn't damage the tyre wear as much as being aggressive on your tyres. So saving a bit of your tyre will also help if you need to push when others pit and I will always push with all out aggression at some point to try and get the fastest lap. Oh and I always get driver 2 to not fight team mate if out in front. If I have had a shocker of a qualifying I don't do that as they can both slingshot each other closer to the leading cars 👍

You need to bear in mind you only have a set amount of powertrain components. Using less lift and drift will hurt those components and wear the engine down below the power drop off level prematurely. You could buy new components but this incurs a grid penalty. Good insight though so thank you.

I found the only engines worth a fuel strategy (overload and push for additional pace) was Ferrari as they were powerful enough to eke an advantage as well as efficient enough to have the fuel load overhead.

I've gravitated towards Ferrari. I used red bull powertrains for one seasons and they were so thirsty!!!!

@@pitlanes 100%. I think there's an advantage playing a lower team (Williams or Aston) and getting Redbull early when you haven't upgraded powertrain cooling yet and want to invest that 5mil cost saving in development and research.

@@pitlanes honestly just have to speed through it and deal with a few bad seasons until you can see completely new drivers under scouting it's so cool that you'll end up with some random 70 stat female driver with 90s in pace it's brilliant

What puzzles me with the strategy editor is that sometimes when selecting a aggressive pace it will actually be much slower depending on what track your racing, selecting standard pace or slower gives me a much quicker estimated race time. Even if selecting aggressive on my compounds and they stay well above the 30% wear level I'm still a full minute or more slower overall with the same tires and pit strategie on a standard or light pace target. I think it has to do with track temperature, track grip, tyre cooling rate (depending on the weather and track) do you know how this works? Not sure if I'm just looking to much in to this and there is a easier explanation to this 🤔

My thoughts are the same as yours. In real life they NEVER go aggressive on a set of tyres for a full stint because the degradation would be high, temps etc. So that's my conclusion too I use them in short bursts now before or after a pit or chasing a drs train

@@pitlanes what you say makes perfect sense offcourse, but I hope to find out how track and air temperature, tyre cooling rate, track grip and rubber influences my overall pace and tyre wear. For example on Singapore a light strategy( blue) will be quicker then for example in Zandvoort where an aggressive strategy will give you a quicker overall estimate. They really tought about the finest details in this game. Love your videos.

from what I've seen elsewhere probably not, I think they've made it harder to just go aggressive, tyre wear more realistic now I think. I'm pretty new to the game so would like an updated version of this too.

I'm tired of this game... maybe it's just me but: I started with Williams and its like running a karting There is NOTHING you can do to get a better place I hired Grasly and fire Latifi, now Albon always finish 20th (I use to finish 17th with him). And you know what??!?! Latifi automatically goes to Alpine and now he finish 10th or so... If you have a shitting team, you will always eat shit!
