Ferrari is too much of an Allure for any driver to resist, so it's understandable that Lewis decided to end his F1 career with Ferrari. It's a devastating loss for Mercedes. To understand Lewis' decision one could argue that 2024 Mercedes is not to Lewis liking of which he's been persisting Mercedes to make certain changes. Two Brits in one team, were always going to divide the garage. Russell is the future, and Hamilton would be marking time at Mercedes if Russell continues as he did last season. On that basis alone it makes sense for Hamilton to call time on Mercedes. Even if Mercedes had a hot car, that alone wouldn't be enough to challenge Redbull with a program of a clear lead driver. Let''s see how Mercedes does with an error-prone Russell at the helm.
