Love him or hate him, this was actually a stunning lap. Literally perfection. Drivers always say that you can never get a perfect lap but you get close to it. And this really was that lap. I'm still stunned as to how he got it. If this was the RB then I wouldnt be this hyped over it cause the mercs are never really strong in Singapore. This was a high downforce circuit suiting the RB. Even max was 3 tenths away from Lewis's pole lap and Max is one of the best drivers on the grid. Really stunning lap this one. Magical, stardust lap.

Hi to all. Of all the f1 laps that I have watched in my time and I have been watching on and off for the last decade or so, his destroying the timing sectors by -1.034 was completely mind-blowing. never before have I witnessed someone destroy his competitors so viciously and not to mention that this track is the an absolute nightmare to memorise. This lap was the one that cemented lewis as a great athlete. Bye4now....

Like a great piece of music that you come back to listen now and then, just to admire it. Those kind of performances are precious. It's like a moment out of time that has been encapsulate in a buble and that will stay through the ages. There's something almost mystical about it. A feeling of absolute. This lap-time was by far the best one of the season yet; everything about it is just pure precision with a not a single mistake or a lock up in sight. Which includes (just) staying out of trouble and looking after his engines. In the following 2019 season only two drivers managed with the allotted five engines: Grosjean - who crashed out of a lot of race laps - and Hamilton. Check out the interview with Mercedes Engines boss Andy Cowell where he says Hamilton often turns his engine down to Safe mode when the Team think he should be in Race mode - and he still wins.

I've also watched this lap countless times, and here I am watching it again, and it still makes my jaw drop. The only imperfection I can see if exit turn 11 (around 50 second mark). Tiny, tiny bit of oversteer, which is corrected in the blink of an eye, probably cost him about 10 milliseconds, maybe less. Definitely wouldn't call it an error. No one will drive a lap as well as this again. When such a minuscule blip is the biggest time loss in a lap, it's hard not to call it perfect.
