The joy of watching him pull astounding quali laps from nowhere. I remember 2006 fondly as the one that got away but Alonso deserved it and Schumi still went out on a high. This guy was amazing in this race.. Just think about he was already 37 years old here. 2 seconds faster than the field lap by lap.. and a fastest lap with dead cold tyres.. 7 championships.. and some drivers are happy to take 1 or 2. Now he's fighting for his life or at least his health. I remember I was around 10 years old at this race and i cried when he got that puncture and then i thought this race ended. After half an hour i saw him he was around 10th place or something like that. This is the perfomance from a truly champion.

In all honesty and I’m sure everyone will agree this was the note that Micheal should’ve ended on and not the Merc years. Yes he was beaten by Alonso and he was getting on in age a bit. But this race showed the raw unbridled speed that he still had in him. It was though as if Micheal was giving the drive to remind the world why he is one of the absolute best the sport has ever seen. This was in my eyes was the true final drive of the all conquering Schumacher. Keep Fighting Micheal.

Without Michael, who knows? A lot could be different. Mercedes would certainly be completely different, his guidance after they emerged from the ashes of BrawnGP was crucial. Considering Michael allowed Vettel to make a crucial overtake on him during the 2013 Brazilian GP, which let Vettel go on to win the championship, what would it be like if Michael wasn't there and instead someone more competitive was, someone who would have resisted and fought Vettel and even changed the course of the championship?

I was there and watched a true masterclass. His line around Laranjinha was something so amazing, many times oversteering into the corner. Being brazilian I grew up listening to all Senna's stories and that Schummi was not that good, that had always done trickery and stuff. While he dominated I prefered to cheer for the underdog. But in this race I changed my option. The guy was in another league, really an extraordinary talent. Then just look back to some of his performances over the time: Belgium 95, Spain 96, Hungary 98, Japan 2000, Brazil and China 2006...stuff of legend

Michael made Ferrari great, he decided to go there while they were in nowhere. He left Benetton and took the challenge. In 1996 they were still to far off the pace. In 1997 it was Michaels sheer driving skill that made a title race against dominating Williams cars possible. 1997 was masterclass apart from the crash in Jerez. In my opinion the title should have been his. 1998 the McLarens were too strong. In 1999 Ferrari was fanstatic, Michael would have won the titel easily if there would not have been the incident in Silverstone. Even Irvine was able to get second place in the standings that season. 2000 was a mixture of feelings. But in the end Michael got his first title with Ferrari. Even though the McLaren were stronger in sheer pace. 2001 and 2002 were dominating seasons for Michael, similiar to the 2017, 2019 title races. 2003 was a very close fight against very strong McLarens with Räikkönen and BMWs with Motoya and young Schumi. 2004 was the most dominant season, comparable to Mercedes in 2016. 2005 was a disaster, the FIA worked hard against Ferrari to slow them down, a phenomenon that never happened with Mercedes. In 2006 Michael took the challenge again, Ferrari did everything they could to recover from 2005, but Renault was too strong again. Over the season they were able to close the gap, but in the end Michael was unlucky with an engine blew-up in Japan. Otherwise he would have been the 2006 champion. Michael could have been easily champion in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006. Alone the fact that he easily could have been a 10 times F1 champion says enough for me. On top of that the Ferraris were only dominant in 2-3 years ((2001), 2002 and 2004). In those other seasons it was just Michaels incredible pace and hard work.

I could still remember this moment vividly, I was supporting him despite knowing his chances to win 8th championship were slim. Watched the race LIVE without a high hope but still with a glimmer. Then when the race started, it all seemed worse after his collision with Fisichella. Tried to stay and watch some other laps, but had to watch till the end when he suddenly started overtaking all cars and setting fastest laps of the race. It was an unbelieveable performance by Schumi and this remains one of the best race by him although not coming as a winner. He won the heart of all Brazilian fans.
