F1000 lapping at High Plains Raceway -- May 29, 2020

A couple of laps from the open lapping day at High Plains Raceway (HPR) in Colorado on May 29th, 2020. Never really had any totally clean/clear laps -- that's how track days go sometimes -- and I hadn't been on a track in over seven months, so times weren't great. As you can see, I was braking early, coasting, over-slowing, not getting back on the throttle very fast, missing apexes, being in the wrong gear, etc. Plenty to work on!
Best proper lap was the 1:49 shown as the second full lap in this video. Best rolling lap starts about halfway through the first lap in the video to the same point in the second lap, and it was about 1:47. Theoretical best lap for the day was about 1:44 per the datalogger.
Car is a 2013 Phoenix f1k.12 Formula 1000. Hoosier R35B slicks with about seven heat cycles on them.

That’s awesome, im planning to track my Civic TypeR in 2021 but I didn’t think of building a SIM for practice. Especially during winters in CO

Is this sim you talk about like in RF2? RF 1 ? I am putting a1976 MONZA together Not as bad ass as a DEKON but it is PRETTY VIOLENT Right now in testing on the Street! Yes it is STREET LEGALE so a few SIM HOURS do go a LONG way ! I never knew of this track tell a couple weeks ago!

Is F1000 the same thing as an F1 car?

So, did the sim help you gain time or better lines to try on track ?

Yup, I'd say it did! Comparing the data from the last time I was out in the autumn versus at this session, I can clearly seem improvements in certain corners, and those were likely due to being able to try different things in the sim. That said, I also still see plenty of room for improvement, so I'll need to explore some more things in the sim going forward :)

@@teuobk Ok great !! Let me know where I'd need to optimize parts of the track. Also, if there are specific bumps on the track that are there now as opposed to the time the LiDAR data was collected, please let me know ^^

trust the downforce! flat through high plains drifter and flat from exit of 8 until you brake for 10 :)

You're right, of course. :) Based on my more recent simulator runs in a very similar car (e.g., kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqDLnIOHp6imrpI ), staying flat from 8 to 10 is worth a huge amount of time.

Why did you lift in turn 3 on to the straight?

Simple explanation: this video was from the second day I'd had the car on the track, and I was working up my confidence in it :) Check out my channel for some more recent (and significantly faster) laps. Admittedly, I'm still lifting in 3. The car seems fully capable of taking the turn wide open; I just need to build to it.
