Geez, that thing is loaded for bear. What is that 2 sidewinders and 8 "am rams" not to mention the finest air to air gun ever. And it achieves amazing maneuverability without canards or thrust vectoring. Awesome airplane.

@motormusic1 It's fixed wing, same as F-16. The F-14 and 15 have sweep capability but dwarf the 16 & 18 in size. The F-22 is fixed but IMO not as menacing-looking as the F-18.

@sikorsky158, the F-14 with AWG-9 and AIM-54 was a pretty lethal combination for its time, but in the end, its outdated, for starters, the AWG-9 could see up 230 nm with pulse doppler radar but it can be easily jammed with current systems whereas the F-18s cant so F-14 would lose in the BVR and close combat

It's not a Growler. The Growler has MANY asthetic differences, not including pylon ALQ-99 pods. The most obvious of which are the wingtip ALQ-218 pod, which are not removable in a flight status. Therefore, AIM-9s cannot be flown on a Growler, which this aircraft has.

@rockyson990 F-15 it is an air superiority fighter and the F-18 is a multi role fighter it would be a fight similar to an F-16 vs an F-22 but both of those would be very close in a dogfight

That's not true. Growlers can carry AIM-7, AIM-120, and AGM-88 HARM and AGM-88E AARGM missiles. But you are correct, that is an Foxtrot, not a Growler.

@sikorsky158 Seriously, get your facts straight. The F18 here is a super hornet with AESA radar which is far far superior to what the old F-18s and especially the Tomcat had. Sure, the F-14 was great and you all loved Topgun I'm sure but it's day is over, the Super Hornet is less than a decade old. Plus, the Phoenix missile was never combat proven and was limited by the F-14 radar, so yes, the F-18 would have it before it could even launch a phoenix.
