Fun fact: the RAAF F-86 Sabre's were outfitted better than the US standard counterparts. The US Sabre had the General Electric J47-GE-27 Turbojet which emmited 5910 lbf of thrust whereas the RAAF CAC Sabre had the Rolls-Royce Avon RA.26 which emmited 7500 lbf of thrust. That means the US Sabre could only reach a top speed of 687 mph at sea level ehile the CAC Sabre reached 700. The Armament for dog fighting on the US Sabre was 6x .50 Cal Browning Machine guns with only 1800 rounds total. The CAC Sabre had 2 30mm Cannons with 162 rounds per gun. while flying joint sorties the US pilots wanted to fly the CAC as they had a better chance of survival and fightback against the Migs. Several US pilots even put it up the Chain of Command asking to be supplied with these over their own.

My old f-18 hornet squadron VFA-131 Wildcats was the very first east coast f-18"s at NAS Cecil Field fla 1984/1988 USN , We were also the first to see combat in april 1986 aboard the USS Coral Sea over in Libya operation el-dorado canyon . Airlants first and finest !

The MiG-15 began production in 1947 and it belongs to the second generation of jet fighters. The F104 starfighter was an american jet. The italians were the last ones to still mantain them in service, as interceptors, until late 1980s. Very fast aircraft, difficult to fly, particularly difficult to land. Really elite pilot stuff.
