Update. The STP oil filter split. I always hand tighten filters. Was crazy but I got the engine shut off as soon as the oil light came on. Made a mess but it didn't hurt anything. The water tube is leaking! These were aftermarket O rings so I went to the dealership and got OEM. Hopefully that will iron out the last detail. Thanks again to everyone that kept up with the rebuild! *Edit- Swapped the o rings and it was pretty obvious that the OEM ones were much beefier and the tube had a lot more drag when inserting it. Keep that in mind if you use aftermarket. I might have just got a bad set.

What break in procedure did you use? If I remember correctly you didn't use any break-in oil.
@ktecgarage Жыл бұрын
Someone said that it could have been caused by the assembly lubricant. I was going to change the oil at 500 miles but it changed itself. Also, i just kept the rpms low and no highway miles for the 1st 500 miles.

Good morning teacher!!! Yesterday I have completely finish with my accord 2.3, took me almost a year. Vehicle is ready to pass emission test, a must here in GA. Although I struggle toward the end, the first crank/star up was very noisy, car was misfiring a lot , and all kinds of codes pop up, and it sounded like a Subaru🤣🤷♂️. Had 3 issues going at same time, all would make a car run bad just by themselves. 2 big newbie mistakes, I never adjusted the valves, I dont know why, not sure what was I thinking after replacing all of them new, and expect to run good. All were loose, some very loose, almost a 1/4" gap😬. This was making it sound like a Subaru, and misfire big time. The 2nd was the distributor cap, I reuse the old one because it look good to me. Bad mistake, got a new one, and got much better, but still missing a bit, and code p0325 kept ON😡. The last issue, and almost made me pull my hair out🤣. The dreaded 'knock sensor '..modafaka...broke the original while disassembling the engine. Went through 5 different sensors, they all were dying with in 4 miles of driving after installed. P0325, just kept coming on, and I could feel the car just losing its power when the sensor die. I thought some was wrong with my car's computer/wiring. Car was fine, I was just dealing with cheap parts, this was my newbie mistake 🤣.Bought a "good" sensor, and code is gone, all good now👍😉. Just wanted to thank you again teacher, this adventure has ended, and I have learn a lot. Ready to tackle another one, 03 Cr-V k20 engine, bad head gasket, bad oil pump, and old transmission. Well farewell, good luck to you, and THANKS!!

Hey man I love your videos they have helped me a lot on my 2.3 accord. I’ve got a question for you if u don’t mind. I’m having trouble with water leaking from the front side of my engine drivers side mid engine, any ideas what it could be? Are there any freeze plugs there around the timing components I don’t think it’s the water pump but I’m stumped really and haven’t had time to break it down. You have any idea what it could be? Thanks buddy! Engine has 365k but still runs like new, I’m just tired of putting water in it everyday, I gotta break down and fix it!
@ktecgarage7 ай бұрын
It would probaby be either the water pump or the water tube that exits the water pump that runs the length of the back of the engine. The water pump has a weep hole under it that leaks coolant when the bearing is going bad. I show the weep hole in this video where I replaced the pump on a Civic. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fX6VmZmkoqljhc0 It's always good to hear that my videos were useful, so thank you! Good luck.

Any possible way you can make a video talking about how to Turbo that same Honda accord 1998- 2002
@ktecgarage4 жыл бұрын
Not really my thing. If I were to turbo that car, I'd use a K24 and not the F23. You could probably go 5-7lbs/200-ish HP with the F23. Anymore than that I would swap rods and widen the ring gaps. Not really the best engine for that. There is a guy on KZbin that did the F23 and kept his AC. Try and find his vids.

@ktecgarage4 жыл бұрын
I saw your question on the other video. For various reasons, I've only put about 1000 miles on it since I finished this up last October. It sat for months while I sorted out some life stuff and used my 93 Civic that I had rebuilt in the same manner. I have put 30,000 miles on the Civic with zero issues. But, this Accord runs like a watch without any issues. Maybe your cylinder walls were too out of spec to do this without boring it over. Thanx for watching and commenting.

Do you have to take off the transmission if you’re just doing an engine swap? It’s the same engine going in
@ktecgarage21 күн бұрын
No. Can't think of a reason. It's just the axles, linkage and one more motor mount to pull it all out at once. Might be easier to just pull it and attach it to the engine outside of the car.

Re do the o rings and add engine oil to them before inserting them. They can roll out of place without some lubricant. As for the shift cables, I've only worked on the manual transmission so I don't have any experience with your setup. There are some really good Honda discussion forums that can probably help you with that.

I wouldn't assume. Just pull the valve cover and see if none or some of the rocker arms aren't moving. If no rockers are moving, pull that front, top timing belt cover and pull the cam bolt and watch it while u turn the motor over. Good luck!

Can the engine be pulled with out removing the transmission
@ktecgarage3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you could, but it would be easier to pull both at once. If you are trying to get around removing the axles, you still have the jack shaft bolted to the rear of the block to contend with. I personally think you would just be making the job much harder. Thanks for watching and commenting!
