5:50 most of the reliability issues with the sparrows were down to maintenance procedures really. Before and up until the final few years of the vietnam war missiles were treated more like bullets than the sophisticated weapons systems they are. They were often left on the aircraft until they had an obvious problem or were fired which led to a lot of problems that could have been avoided. Like vacuum tubes needing to be replaced but never being replaced so the guidance system didnt work, or wires working lose so the motor igniter fails, etc. procedures were put in place to treat missile maintenance more like aircraft maintenance rather than just loading a new bullet into a magazine, but it was too little too late for both the missile performance stats and the reputation for the missile. There were other issues like the control fin actuator arms on the AIM-7s being weak and breaking in 12-15G turns before the AIM-7E-2. But the primary reason for missile reliability issues was still the maintenance procedures. The hit rates of missiles that functioned were primarily the fault of pilots using them incorrectly though. Like the AIM-9B while it could be launched at any angle it could get a tone at and up to as hard as the mothership could pull, it only had a reliable chance to hit its target when the mothership was pulling 2Gs or less.

Yeah, if the Sparrow's overall combat record in Vietnam says anything, the E-2 (and possibly the E-4 variant) did not help much in terms of reliability of p/k or even launch. It was only the AIM-7F and M that actually were semi-decent. Also the F-4 could carry 15-16k lbs of weapons and stores, so being a bomb/missile truck is not surprising. I'm pretty sure the EJ Kai is technically the most "modern" airplane we have in the game now, isn't it? It didn't show up until probably the 1980's since it has, as you pointed out, an F-16 radar set and the cockpit is clearly more modern compared to other Phantoms. Also appreciate the Total War: Shogun reference lol

In the air trees, the EJ Kai is - I believe - the most chronologically modern as of today. There are a hand full of ground vehicles much newer though, as well as some helicopters.

As far as top-tier goes, this is probably the last that Japan receives until 4th Gen jets arrive, the next one would be the F-15J which is the Japanese version of the USAF F-15C which is too advanced right now. More likely is that the Kai would receive new weapons such as better Sidewinders and Sparrows (AIM-9L and AIM-7F/M) and either get raised in BR or Gaijin would implement some sort of dynamic BR system which changes the BR depending on weapons loadout.

For some reason for me this radar keeps screweing up and I been going over it with friends and I just cant seem to make it work unfortunately. I keep getting screwed by it. So currently the aim 7 is closer to reality. Cause it just explodes or just doent track sensor on the target with radar lock. I get to where ei just bother using them I tested hours upon hours. I also have the best most stable connection out of my friends

Lots to unpack there. With bombs, that's an intentional choice on my part. I try to make stock footage that will be a little more appealing to "regular players" flying a typical mission grinding the plane, rather than just showing off "look at how much ass I can kick flying pure air superiority". I also try to make it a point in my reviews to show at least one non-optimal, or outright "bad", loadout in the gameplay footage. Tons of other people do the "ass kicking" content, but my format is different - intentionally so. In terms of "regurgitated information" , my factoids and historical tidbits come from a variety of primary sources both in print and online. I suppose that makes it all "regurgitated" but its an odd choice of words. In any case, not everyone is a fan - and that's ok. o7
