Yeah, a reason why listener might not like to be touched isn't that he doesn't like it, but that when it happens that it changes his mental state, even if it's too one of happiness or being content, but the feeling of someone being able to control your mental state like that could be quite scary being why he doesn't like people doing it where others might. The thing of knowing that someone else has direct control over how you feel requires a lot of trust and intimacy with the other person, and feeling that influence being scared about the fact it feels good, and I really get the going non verbal part when things are too much, the overwhelm of inputs causing you to not be able to process enough to provide a verbal output

Would you be alright with that?" Me: "Yes..." Her: "Really? Great, I..." Me: "Please don't interrupt me. As I was saying, yes that's exactly how to do it. Once they know you're serious, they're bound to give you an answer." Her: "You know what, maybe I'll just ask later..." Me: "Well, of course you'll have to ask them later. They aren't here right now!"
