Some very good explainer videos. I have not seen this level of diy support from other companies. In fact tried to check out one company and their website seemed more designed to shift a potential customer off to a retailer with out providing detailed specs, pricing etc. So thanks again for going above and beyond with this channel and your company.

Engineered solutions provide the strength at the lowest weight. Those that do no engineering have to overbuild everything, because they don't know if it will fail or not. Result: boated overweight vehicle that is less off-road capable. If your are going to buy a great sub-frame, your best bet is to go with a full engineered solution.

I think it's the very first torsion-free subframe made for Ford F-550. Great!!! The side toolboxes can be attached to the subframe, not to the main frame?

So, these subframes made by Globe Trekker can be though of as the "adapter plate" for any vehicle from 24" to 42" width truck-frames. This covers just about everything on the road that is street legal. Toolboxes can be attached to the subframe, but we recommend attaching directly to the truck frame, since that is where the weight is eventually transferred to. Great question!

Thinking of buying a dodge ram 5500, ca 60”, will be hauling a Bigfoot 10.4 camper. Just wondering if how high your sub frame sits above the truck frame?. I’m assuming I would use a 3 point contact mount system as the sub frame would be between 8 to 9.5 feet in length. Is there any way to mount your pivot system so it sits lower to the frame as I would like to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. Thanks Russ 0:26

The subframe does add 8.5" so it can allow the truck frame to torsional twist up to 15 left and right for a full 30 degrees of rotation. If the camper you are selecting is a cabover, you will need the four point system due to cantilevering weights. 8.5" is the rise to keep it clear of components and allow for the thicknesses of steel for an engineered system that has been strength tested to perform.

how much does the subframe weigh?

This is a 12' 4-point, meaning it has a crossmember pivot front and rear, and two axial pivots in the middle, topped with a platform we call the weldment. It is hot dip galvanized for inside and outside protection, and has two powder coat layers (one primer, and one hammer tone black). Subframe weldments can be powder coated in a range of colors for a small fee to cover the costs of the range of colors. It weighs 779 pounds.

My advice... shop around. Try to find the best deal on an engineered torsion free subframe for less. Make sure it is engineered and not just welded up by a fabricator who over-builds because they have no idea how to calculate true loading conditions. Also, ensure it is protected from corrosion. Ours is hot dipped galvanized for inside and outside protection, primered and powder coated. The finishing process is $2K alone.
