When I was young, I'm 74 years old, I did everything on my cars from engine teardowns, brakes, transmissions, you name I did it. I recently bought a CPO 2021 Mini Cooper S Countryman all4. I love it and driving it is a blast, I'm a young 74! I have been watching videos about Mini maintenance. I think me and the dealership are going to be mates!

It's always more satisfying to do the job myself. I think I will keep doing the types of maintenance until I physically can't anymore.

Excellent, saved a lot of head scratching

No problem just doing my part in the Mini community.

Concerned about the equipment to register the battery. The days of setting the points gap using a matchbook cover are long gone along with the $50 per hour shop rate. $225 here.

I know what you mean, I was sceptical at first but once the connection to my phone and the bluetooth dongle was setup the rest was relatively easy. I am no technician but everything seems to be fine after a couple of winter months and some near 30Celcius weather we've had lately. This is why I did this video because dealers make it seem like something very difficult and technical that the average person couldn't handle.

how much is all that "Bimmerlink" stuff? Do you need a physical scan tool?
@EssentialCustom16 күн бұрын
You will need to check the website for current pricing. Software was around $75 and ODB dongle was about $60 when purchased 5+ years ago.

Dealership here in Florida is almost $500. Battery , removal and install.

Yeah, it is quite expensive from the dealer. They got to pay for techs, overhead and then make a margin. If you have the ability to perform the service yourself it does save you a few dollars.

Out of all the battery brands which would you recommend. My Mini is 3 years old and I have 9500 miles on it. Thanks Frank

In my area there isn't a whole lot of selection. I normally get Mini genuine or Costco (which I believe is Interstate). I get about 6-7 years out of those batteries.
