😊A fun fact about Walk of Life is that the record company didn't want to include it on the album, but Mark, John and the others stood their ground! This is Mark's great tribute to all those devoted musicians working hard as street musicians all over the world. And what a fantastic homage it is! Some DS' songs appear in the lyric too, as part of "Johnny's" repertoire. Mark's great sense of humour coming through. 😂🎶👍🎸

it's really nice that young musicians like you love Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. Real music!

So jealous of today’s generations who get so much access to content. You get access to his entire career instantly through streaming. I’ve had to wait 50 years to get to this new record.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. I would not change anything, because I got to hear Dire Straits live twice, in '85 and '92 and Mark solo in '96 and 2019. Furthermore, the special feeling of buying for example the Love over Gold album is something I would not have wanted to miss. Not for anything. 🎶🎸

Do you have any idea what it was like to experience for example Telegraph Road or Tunnel of Love live? This is something the young could only dream about. Most of them are sadly unaware of what they have missed.😊

Please sample things with Sonny Landreau and Emmylou Harris such as Cannibals and Done with Bonaparte. You don't know what you're missing. And sorry to burst a balloon but I thought the first song from the demo was really bad. I don't hold it against Mark just didn't like it.

Mark truly is in a league of his own as his tone is immediately recognizable. For me, an elite guitarist isn’t just technically proficient, it’s how they evoke emotion out of their listeners by the way they play. Mark is THE master of this as he’s made me tear up many, many times. I love you Mark Knopfler.

Great video! The deeper you dive into Mark's discography, the more you will discover just what a diverse range of brilliant music he has created over the years. You mentioned the name Steve Phillips on that early demo tape - he actually played with Mark again later on as part of The Notting Hillbillies. Mark put the group together just for fun after the huge Brother's in Arms tour with Dire Straits. More country rock/ blues music if you are interested.

Thanks for this Faana. As a fellow (small) content creator from London I know it's a lot of work for tiny rewards but we do it for sharing a passion for a topic and your channel is the epitomy of that. Always enjoy watching keep up the great work! 👍

Maybe other comments are already mentioned it but On the Night (that’s right, this album again) includes the best “Walk of Life” live version, highly recommended ❤

Thanks 🙂That was fun to watch and discover. As I remember ,Walk of life was a bigger hit in USA then in Europe . I’m from Soviet Ukraine 🇺🇦 and at the disco (about 1985-1989) in my music college the most popular song was “Your latest trick “ because of sax 🙂and nice melody

Audio for the first song isn't coming through, not sure if this is a recent thing and been copyright striked?

That early song sounds suspiciously similar to his song "True Love Will Never Fade" from the "Kill to Get Crimson" album. Maybe he recycled some ideas from the early recording?
