is there a difference between a regular 750-1,000 gallon fire truck water tanks and a foam tank? Does the truck have to modified or retro fitted to apply form application? if so what needs to be done and what is the difference between the 2?

Large ARFF vehicles have separate foam and water tanks. Foam tanks have to be rinsed to remove the old AFFF prior to the F3 being placed in the tank

Other than cleaning out the AFFF there is no difference. The proportioners may need to be adjusted due to viscosity difference but it still functions in the same percentage as AFFF. Also keep in mind that F3 takes 1.5 to 3 times as much agent to accomplish the same fire suppression as AFFF. Also keep in mind that the testing has not been done on anything other than flat concrete and in burn pans. It hasn’t been tested on grass or dirt or gavel.
