KISP was my home airport for years. Very professional people in the tower there. I remember landing on 27 (now closed) many times. I was coming Into ISP on 33L (bigger runway) in a Skyhawk. I had a 737 chewing up my rudder. My destination was the west side, so if I landed long, the 737 would have to go around. Since winds were calm the tower asked if I could take 27 instead. I was almost at the numbers of 33L. I replied "sure!" I stood on my left rudder and swung it over to 27 and landed. Just as i got over 27 he gave clear to land for the 737. As a PVT pilot I always give way to the PRO pilots, usually I would have gone around. I remember coming into ISP at night in 24. I was cleared to land and told the tower my dest was the west side and would try to make the first right turn onto 33R. As I was approaching the runway my cockpit lit up! Behind me was a Dash-8 also on final. I asked the tower if he wanted me to go around to let the Dash-8 land. I was told, its ok, just keep your speed up. As soon as i touched down, I made that right turn quickly onto 33R cleared the active runway, the Dash-8 was cleared to land right behind me. Ahhhh the good old days. Very nice people in the tower there. Cant say the same for KFRG as they even forget who is in the pattern there!! One of the ACTs cleared me to taxi down an active runway with someone on final!!! Needless to say, i held short and told them "im not doing that, pick another way for mw to taxi." Instantly I heard a different ATC give me proper taxi instructions.

There is a possibility that an aircraft can undershoot runway 33R so Approach hold lines exist

the airport is in Ronkonkoma, which is in the Town of Islip. I think what you are thinking of is Islip, the hamlet...which is south, on the Great South Bay.
