Was Alan Carter your favourite Space:1999 character? Did you know Nick Tate's father had voiced characters in Thunderbirds? Let us know!

My first name is _Allan,_ so YOU DO THE MATH...😊 I also LOVE aviation and rocketry and space. I worked in aviation most of my life, and was a student pilot long ago, although I never completed it. I had NO IDEA Nick's Dad did that!

Yes, Alan was and is my favourite character on Space: 1999 and no, I didn’t know that about his father!

Nick Tate/Alan Carter, was absolutely my favorite character on the show, though I did like others such as Martin Landau and Barry Morse. I loved aviation and space flight so I naturally gravitated to Carter. He's so ingrained in my mind that when I wrote a character for my book, he popped into my head, speech pattern and all.

Nick Tate was one of Space 1999's best actors, and his role as Alan Carter was really impressive!

Loved the show since it premiered in the 70's. Never knew the back story on how Nick got the role. Really loved his role as Alan Carter. Pretty interesting stuff.

I was once wistfully told by an older gay friend of mine that Alan Carter was his favourite character as a young teen because of, well, to put it more delicately than he did, the cut of his trousers. One of those things that till somebody else points it out, you never noticed, and now... www.amazon.com/space-1999-nick-tate-photo/dp/b005edowdy

Yep Alan Carter was always my favourite. I remember on school playgrounds we would argue over who would pretend to be Carter when we re-enacted that weeks episode. I’m sure sometimes there were 3 or 4 Carters at once!! Lol Also my name is Alan so.... As a sidenote, I first met Nick in 2013 at an Autograph event in Brum. I was having a terrible time but was determined to meet my childhood hero.. He was a true gent and a pro. Made everyone feel like the only person in the room with him!

Nick Tate's Alan Carter really grounded the show. Don't laugh, by that I mean he was really down to earth, still don't laugh, and he was much more believable in all his scenes.

As a young American boy it really never dawned on me that he was Australian, my ears weren’t keen enough to tell Australian from British.

The father-son thing with the Tates was new information to me. I'm glad that Gerry & Sylvia ended up casting Nick as Alan Carter. He was as much a part of the show as the Eagles.

Thinking Australians belong in space is no surprise. Our own Aussie government thought the same thing for over forty years. :(

It's not the only occasion of a father and son pairing on a Gerry Anderson unit. What about you Jamie, and your dad Gerry Anderson ? Or am I just being a little silly ? LOL 😘
