Oh my gosh, Jen! Thank you for sharing your pattern storage box. Nice to know that I'm not the only one with piles I need to address. I teach so March won't work for me but I'll be watching for future class offerings.

You can also use those sew totes to help hold scarfs in place around your neck and they won’t sag or one side get longer …… you can just drape a light weight scarf in a cowl like neck and those sew tites hold nicely!👍

Jen I have a pattern purge every so often because some patterns are no longer useful or do I need so many similar patterns. Planning to do one for my commercial patterns. I also purge fabrics I know I will never use by giving them away, it's amazing how much space you can gain. Having a place for all my notions and different work areas and making sure I return them to their place means I can find them easily and saves sewing time. i am loving seeing your process.

Good luck with getting your space organised. I had to organise my sewing space before Christmas. I use one of my spare rooms, which does have a single bed in it as well. I sorted out all my pattern boxes and stacked them on shelving and all fabric put away. I also had to take down my work table and hide it behind the bed and generally reorganised the room because I needed to get a cot up for my granddaughter who was visiting with her mum and dad for Christmas. I've now got my got my sewing space back and the cot has been taken down so I am all ready for 2024. Just wish I could come to your pant fitting session but its too far away for me here in the UK.

I used Command Strips to hang something light and 3 years later the strips fell off the wall pulling the paint off down to the plaster board. I won’t use it again. Good luck with your organization. It will feel so good to get it done. I have work to do as I am spreading throughout the house.

That's good to know! Maybe they need a yearly refresh like the batteries in your smoke alarm... I to am spread across the house, so after I finish my studio, I'm moving on to other rooms! Thanks for following along with me

Kennel your puppy when unable to watch her. She’s asking you for boundaries. A kennel is their best friend. Secure feeling.

I even got my 9 year old cat in a kennel when he wants to go out for a bit. Now is too cold to go out, but he likes going out in his kennel now and then when it is warm. Sometimes he even sits in the kennel thinking I will put him out a minute. Lol

I totally agree with that... We are working on getting her to sleep through the night in her crate. She whines in the crate when I tired to put her in during the day.... The issue is we work at home and her whining drives my husband crazy.... Really hoping this teething stage ends soon!

My goal this year is to get my closets,drawers, and pantry organized. Some are already done and hopefully will get couple more things done. However I’ll also be getting ready to go back to Florida for a month very soon to spend time with grandchildren. So I have to get my hind parts in motion and get things ready for that.

Two loops on either side might be best, or instead of a center loop, put the loop on one corner and hang the bag diagonally.

I use cafe rod clips to hold my patterns (the ones I hang) and then I can put the ring over a hook I have hanging on my door. I need to find a better location for keeping them though.

Missed you today. The next two Friday's I have PT for my foot. So will be watching replays for these 3 weeks. I used that thermal lining for 17 windows in my cabin upnorth. I put fabric on one side and used pressure rods to hang them in the windows for the winter. I even did the patio door, plus covers over the windows on the entrance doors. I used magnets to hold them in place on the doors. Pressure rods on the rest of the windows, top and bottom in the casing I made. Easy up and down fall and spring.
@JSternDesigns Жыл бұрын
Hope your PT goes easy! ...That's a great idea to use pressure rods! I put rings half way up the shade and then rings that I split at the top so I can hitch them up in the day/summer. Weirdly, we pulled the couch away from the wall in front of those windows and Dasha hasn't thought about jumping up onto the window seat to get to the new shades yet... Hoping that continues!

Could you add a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood to raise the worktable you have and put drawers in between the current surface and the new one?
@JSternDesigns9 ай бұрын
My worktable is a 4 x 8 piece of laminant that I got at Home Depo! I do have room to put shelves underneath... but I'm tall and it's a pain to reach under. I'm thinking about this... kinda like not having anything under it (more leg room when I'm sitting :)

I don’t know how old your pup is, but she could be teething. Try seeing if she likes ice cubes. They will feel good on her gums. We have a 5 month old mini Schnauzer who is the worst one for teething we’ve ever had. He’s the sweetest thing until he wants/needs something and then he’s bite city until we figure out what it is he’s asking for.
@JSternDesigns Жыл бұрын
I think she is definitely teething! ...Every time I go to the fridge to get ice for my water bottle she comes running.... I give her an ice cube and she proudly trots back into the living room with it... She's very cute (even though she's also a train wreck!)

Perhaps you don't have to bag all of your patterns. A large part of organizing is getting rid of things you no longer need or use. Down size first. I know it's hard. Good luck!
@JSternDesigns Жыл бұрын
I did recycle a huge pile of pattern pieces...And I decided that all of my Master patterns and things I wanted to save are going back into the under the bed storage bin... which I will locate somewhere outside of my studio. That way I have them if I ever need them, but they won't take up space in my room :) I'll share the rest on Friday! Thanks for following along with me

It's too bad you can't mount the camera(s) from the ceiling so the floor space is more open.
@JSternDesigns Жыл бұрын
I've already mounted two 4' long kinoFlo light fixtures on the ceiling... Not sure about the camera... It's a big Sony F3 Video Camera, and I really love the fact that I can slide it around on the jib to get different angles... But, I'm thinking about it! Thanks for catching the replay

Use Dana White's method, the first 3 steps require no emotional input at all. Trash - easy stuff that goes elsewhere - obvious donations. After that, you're left with the stuff you want to keep. I had to reorganize my sewing room and got rid of a lot of stuff. It's not easy! Will love following you on this journey!
