@RocStarr9137 жыл бұрын
foxxxmoney It is, especially if you listen to the original version of the album, All Or Nothing, which was how Germany and the rest of Europe had it. It experimented more with Europop and hip-hop sounds and in that context, the fact that Rob & Fab aren't the singers don't seem to matter as much. It's a timeless piece of 1980's urban kitsch to me to this day. It just shows how incredible of a producer Frank Farian was.

Fab sings great. Milli Vanilli made these songs famous. The actual vocals could never make it without them that big on these songs. Everyone should know performance, promotion, advertising is what sells albums, not just singing on it. Milli Vanelli was not treated fairly. These guys did NOT steal the vocals of these songs. The person who wrote the song/produced/sang in it, etc, was the person who signed these poor young guys in their 20s on a record contract and gave them an advance to spend. They were auditioned, before this, and told they would be singing on records. They were given songs from the producer who signed them (he had heard of them and seen them performing, so they were talented). But this producer, Frank, had other plans. After recording these guys in the studio on these tracks, he brought in paid studio session musicians to sing on the same tracks and did not feature the voices of the Milli Vanelli signed duo. They wanted to sing on it, but were told to either comply with their label/producer, or pay back advance money which they (no other source of income), had spent already. They were required to lip sync. They were young, poor, and taken advantage of. they did not sing songs merely recorded by "people", and pretend they were the ones who recorded it. Rather, the people who sang the songs and the producer used these 20s year old models/performers to front their music which they (middle aged and non-spectacular), could not front. Milli Vanelli was tricked. They stood their ground not to continue lip syncing after that initial contract term since they now knew the trick, and REFUSED to do a second album with the producer, who then revealed they were not the actual singers, in order to get a piece of the pie. Milli Vanelli, unlike artists who willingly lip sync, insisted to sing or never to represent a new album with the producer. They owned up, asked for forgiveness, volunteered their grammy back first which gave the go ahead for a recall etc. What more did you expect them to do? Meanwhile Frank, the producer did the same thing with Bonny M and others. Milli Vanelli remain heroes in my opinion.

I don't think there was a full clip of the lip-sync skip. I think it was taped, but it never actually aired. If that was the case, Milli Vanilli's exposure as lip-synchers would have been quicker than it was.

@MrMark191487 жыл бұрын
That's not technically true--at least Force MDs were not doing it on records first. As everyone knows, BBD and Bobby Brown are also apart of New Edition, and they were doing rapping and singing through the whole "Candy Girl" album in 1983. They just continued that on their individual projects years later. Force MDs first album was released in 1984. Just saying.

I remember growing up on the island of St. Croix and we got cable in 1987. Just watching Milli Vanilli and many others was amazing. I knew their biggest hit was Girl you know it’s true but I forgot about Blake it on the rain also. I just loved them and couldn’t believe they were lip syncing. I’m glad Fab did this interview. He seems like a kind soul.

This man is beyond gorgeous. He has one of the most beautiful faces I've seen. I literally cannot believe he is 53. I've followed him for over 20 years now. Whatever fountain of youth he is drinking from is exactly where in the world I want to be to imbibe.

What's funny is everyone lipsyncs now. So them being busted for this is kinda comical now looking back on it
@spinblackcircles5 жыл бұрын
Well the huge difference is that while a lot (most) pop singers do lip sync when they perform live, they do also actually sing on their records. This band did not sing live nor did they sing on their albums. It was all a fabrication.
@kingkong54835 жыл бұрын
