Probably the next thing I’m going to do to my new ‘21 FXLRS, but probably going with simple slip ons vs a full exhaust. One, because of price, but two, because Matt Laidlaw said in a video, that the factory headers are specifically designed to function with the bike and provide that low end torque we all love so very much. Although he did say they have had good results with some 2-1 pipes but didn’t mention which ones.
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
Honestly man, check out some Dyno sheets on the forums and on fuel Moto‘s website. The stock exhaust on our bike sucks with slip on‘s. No matter what slip bonds you get you will never come close to the performance of a good two into one on this bike. As a general rule of thumb I don’t listen to really anything people at the Harley dealership tell me unless I know it’s a good dealership that centers around performance like moonshine Harley in Tennessee. Two into one will be a two into two any day much less a stock two into two with slip Ons

Looks killer, I'm interested in those numbers. I've been shopping for a replacement for my V&H upsweep for a while. Can't make my mind up. Also, wouldn't sweat those gaskets, the V&H shipped with tapered gaskets but I kept getting a leak on the front cylinder. Eventually grabbed some oem straight gaskets and has been great ever since.
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this exhaust has been on my bike now for a little over a month and I’ve been really happy with the gaskets. Probably will use these in the future if I ever change the exhaust and I’m able to still use the flat gasket also. Way easier to use and I’ve been happy with them.

Looks sweet, you gonna do a start up video so we can hear it? I went with the Bassani Radial Sweepers and a Stage III on my '22 LRS, actually at dealership now getting that all done. I run swing arm bags as I like that look, and the sweepers allow me to still do that w/o being in the way.
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely I will when I do a walk around of the bike in a little bit. Unfortunately did not have time at the time that I did the install video it was too early in the morning to start it up and I had to get it filmed and edited and uploaded. And no exhaust that you deal with should impact the swingarm bag. I know a very small selection of swingarm Bags fit the right side of the bike but the vast majority of them fit the left side which does not interact with the exhaust at all on these bikes. So you could run any exhaust you want man

Just installed my new full exhaust after watching your videos and they were a great help, thank you!. Two questions for you: I put a small bit of anti seize on my O2 sensor threads just like you did. After starting the bike up, BOTH O2 sensors started to smoke! Do you think maybe a bit of anti seize got on a portion that contacts the high heat and is burning off? I have been working on the bike all weekend so once I saw smoke I threw my hands up in despair and quit for the day. Not sure what else it could be especially since the light smoke was coming from BOTH sensor areas. My second question is regarding the flat exhaust gaskets. I’ve only ever seen the tapered as well but my exhaust kit came with flat gaskets as well. This seemed to create a small gap between the flange and the engine block. Is that normal? I wish I would have taken pictures during my disassembly of the exhaust but I didn’t. I was able to get the flange nuts to the recommended torque specs but that visual gap between the flange and the engine block port just has me concerned. Does yours have a gap? Should I be concerned? Thanks again for all the helpful videos.
@RidinDad Жыл бұрын
Hey man that’s awesome! I’m glad I helped you. Don’t worry about smoke. It’s always gonna happen with new exhausts whether it’s a tiny amount of anti seize or finishing media burning off from the stainless itself. After 15-20 minutes the smoke should leave and it’ll be fine. As far as the gaskets and flanges, there should always be a gap between the cylinder and the flange. The gaskets crush down and create the seal, not the flange. So you don’t have to worry about where the flange is at really. Make sure in 1-200 miles you re tighten those flanges too because the gaskets will settle in

Another great video; thanks for making the time to create! Bike looks killer, all the way around, and I'm curious about your front and rear crash protection. Bung King? If not, which brand? I ask because I have Bung King on my front and rear, yet it looks as though you've got some type of grippy tape on, which I really llike. Also, do you find the added back rest on your SDC Step-Up helpful or is it gimmicky? I've got the Step-Up "Gripper," and for my second bike (RKS) am thinking about the seat you have. Thank you again.

hello, I'm hoping that you and your family are well considering what you folks are going through with regard to your home, I wish you the very best there, quick question? it's my understanding that the M8 motor really likes a long pipe when using a 2 into 1 exhaust to save back pressure, I have a Sportglide softail with the stock headers and a Rinehart slip-on, it actually goes well past the swing arm, are you still using the Fab28 pipe? it just seems to be too short? Fuel Moto just introduced their "Contender" 2 into 1 and it looks good, however, it seems short as well, my question is, am I over thinking it or do I want to continue to try and have a longer exhaust in order to retain my back pressure? I'm running the Star Racing 30 / 30 cam with 125 lbs of torque and my bike is a 107 ci, just wanted to get your opinion on running the shorter pipe, thank you in advance and stay safe
@RidinDad Жыл бұрын
Thank you man. I appreciate that very much. You’re not overthinking it, long exhausts perform better. That being said, there’s few options for these bikes. A 2-1 will outperform the stock headers and slip ons typically though…even if it’s short. So you can definitely upgrade. I’m running the fuel moto jackpot riot 2-1 right now. Sounds good (not insanely loud) and performs good from what I’ve seen. I have not redynod my bike yet though to see my personal changes.

Just wondering about heat shields? And could you have spun the combination pipe around to have the springs towards the bike so they arnt exposed? Less things to catch and even just for looks??
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
You might be able to. There might be clearance issues with the springs and you wouldn’t be able to install them or uninstall them properly. With them behind the pipe. That’s why pretty much all exhausts have them visible. As I stated in the video this specific exhaust comes with one small heat Sheild about 4-5 inches long (I showed it). You can place that where your heel area would be on the right side obviously if you want it but for me my foot does not touch the exhaust in any area and I do not need it so I left it off for a more uniform look

@@RidinDad yes which one do you prefer? I have a 21 HD Electra Glide with a FM 128 and RTX Riot pipe. When I had it Dyno tuned my tuner said is ran very hot. @@RidinDad I'm just striking out over here 😂 I have about 2k miles on my thrashin supply exhaust. And it sounds great. I love the sound of true dual exhaust. And it has the feuling dog ball baffles which sound incredible at 6k rpm. But.. I'm sitting at 113hp and 140 ft.-lbs. I think it's killing my hp. So I've been looking for a unique 2 into 1 set up to consider.
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know about that man. Statistically two into two set ups are better for horsepower and worse for torque. You have a lot of torque already. A two into one might actually hurt your overall horsepower but help your torque potentially. And I know that exhaust is a well thought out exhaust so it’s not like you have a cheap set up.
