I watched you gift basket tutorial last year and i owe you a really big thank you everyone thought I had bought them premade and when they asked "Where did you get these they are amazing?" Such great gift ideas. Perfect for when you just need that little gift that shows you are thinking of that person during the holiday season. I'm forever looking for little fun type gifts for my husband. After being married a long time, being retired and by ourselves it gets difficult for me to find things for him. We tend to pick up things we need throughout the year, but we still enjoy giving each other a little something. He loves jerky and nuts so a box filled with those would be great! If anyone has any good gift ideas for a husband who never gives any ideas, I'm ALL ears!! Our only son passed away last December13th, so obviously we did nothing for Christmas. I'm really trying to make this year festive and nice. It's our favorite time of year, and I don't want us to make it a horrible time because of the huge loss in our lives. I'm really trying to get in the mood.....so people like you who make these wonderful videos are really helping me to not only get in the mood but to distract myself as the first anniversary approaches. Dear Beth, So sorry to hear of your loss especially now that you are approaching the challenging 1st anniversary of your son's passing. I am happy to hear that videos like mine are helping to bring a little peace and joy to you. The ninth anniversary of my husband's death is coming up on 11/11 and if it helps, I can tell you that what my children and I have done to find peace on days like his birthday, anniversary of his death, and the holidays is to celebrate him with things he really loved. For example, we will eat his favorite foods, watch his favorite movies, go to an amusement park or arcade (which he loved) and during the holidays, decorate like Clark Griswald just like him! We have found that, for us, the best way to honor him and his life is to embrace life with the joy and enthusiasm he would want for us and to celebrate to the fullest. Hope this helps. I feel like if I ALLOW sorrow to ruin my favorite time of year I am allowing sadness to win and control my life. His 30th birthday would have been on October 26th. My husband and I ordered from his favorite restaurant (we don't go out because of my health problems and Covid) and I made his favorite cake. We talked about funny times when he was growing up. I think if I don't celebrate the season I'm disrespecting his memory because he too loved it. I am doing my best to put myself in the mood. I can't tell you how videos like your's help. Sometimes people don't realize how much they could be affecting or helping someone just by doing what they are routinely doing. Thank you. I love your ideas! Those gift baskets are so clever! I love the movie one especially. Often DT has DVDs of interest -- wouldn't that be a great addition to the movie basket if you found a movie your recipient would enjoy.
