When I started colouring 2 years ago all the KZbinrs seemed to be using Prismacolors. I have chronic pain so they seemed a good option for me. But now that I've tried some of the more budget friendly sets I must say I've been impressed. I built up a Black Widow collection and bought the Amazon Basic 72 set last week after your review and I love them! So yes, more budget pencil colouring - it's so nice to see what's out there and that we don't have to spend a fortune on our hobby. Thanks Lucy for all your reviews and colour alongs, they help so much!! x

I think it would be a nice change for you to visit some of the budget pencils you do like to use. Nice way to compare them as well not that you have this new set. I know I want a set but in the U.S. It is a little more, I will save up for them though. You're right those colors are great!

I have Derwent Inktense and Chromaflow pencils but I am eyeing the Polychromos and Prismacolours as well, albeit that the latter is 100eur more expensive than the Polychromos. Any other set you think I should consider?

These are so lovely aren’t they! I have the 50 set but deffo want to upgrade to the 100 set soon. They work beautifully in books too. I used them in a Johanna Basford book and they were so creamy and blended gorgeous. I can’t wait to see you do a page using them! Thank you for sharing xx

Loved the video, Lucy! But please, please, don’t call yourself stupid, because you aren’t!! I am learning from you and I enjoy your videos! 50:57 I am finding I lean more and more to a harder pencil. I have “the pencils who cannot be named”, and I just don’t use them very much. I got them a few months after I really got started on my coloring journey, basically because the videos I watched were mostly using them, and were touted as the best pencil a jump above budget ones. As for these FC Black Edition, they look like they are fun to color with, but I would expect nothing less from Faber Castell! And yes, I want to see a coloring page done with these!!!!

Hi there, have only just found your channel and am really enjoying your down to earth approach. When I started colouring I took Johanna's advice and used Ergosoft which I still love. Then when I wanted a few more colours and started watching tutorials for advice (!). I ended up thinking you absolutely had to have a full set of 'P' pencils. Luckily I only got a few to try and they weren't for me at all. So I have a mix of pencils now, mostly budget but I would add, just to be awkward, that I avoid stuff made in China. There are lots of great pencils out there made in Europe, but that's just me. Happy colouring!

Hi Lucy…I’m also a pencil fanatic. I have nearly every set out there, expensive and cheap. But I just couldn’t get on with tombow irojiten as they are way too hard. I also had a whole set of 100 Derwent lightfast but just didn’t take to them, so I sold them. Do I regret that now? Yes. Lol. I have since bought a few individual shades back again. 🤦🏼‍♀️. I have this set black editions and I really like them. I also (finally, after years of searching) managed to get a set of amazon basics….and I absolutely love them. For the price, they are incredible. 🥳. Keep colouring, Lucy…your channel is one of the best. 😘.

These look very appealing! Thanks for this demo. I'm personally very curious about the Brutfuner Squares vs the Arrtex pencils. Both sets have had very positive reviews in the community, but I haven't come across any comparison videos. Cheers from Down Under❤

I have staedtler triangular barrels and never had any issues sharpening or anything like that…I use a 20 year old fiskars sharpener that looks like Tetris 😂 and also brutfuner 78 ct or something random from TEMU I actually realllly like them. The color system makes no sense tho

I'm sorry that I am a day late with this yesterday was quite hectic for me. You keep bringing pencils into my wish list because right now we're not financially able to let me spend money lol. However, I would very much like to see this series on these budget cuts used in coloring. One particular set that I would like to see you test and then color with are the Castle Arts Soft touch. I believe the people are not giving them enough credit. Another favorite of mine for coloring are the intro creative macaron and of course the morandi sets. I would love to have a chance to just chat with you on the phone or by text because I am a professional artist and my preferred medium is pencil. But I also love to color and you introduced me to things that I then feel that I need so that I can dedicate it to My coloring rather than using my expense of artist quality pencils. I know that I am incredibly far across the pond from you being in Arizona. However, this is where they do some of the ASTM lightfast testing so I would be interested in testing some of these pencils for lightfast standards myself when I am finally able to get some of them. Every time I see one of your videos come up I am so excited and it makes my day so much better. Thank you so much for doing all of these things for us.😊 Now I just have to find some way to get a set of 100 in Phoenix Arizona since they are not available to us in the United States yet.

The 100-set is new. There is also a new skintone-set with 12 colors. Couldn't find out if they are unique or doubles out of the 100-set. They only 1 moth available here in Germany ( where Faber Castell is from). Maybe later this year you could get them in US. Greetings from Germany

I have tbe 36 set, andthey are so bright and smooth and go well with Derwent Chromaflow, in colouration and writing feel. I want those two fill sets since trying the small sets.

I received and used the 50 count set of the black edition earlier this week and wasn't impressed. They reminded me of the Arteza classics in the way they colored (weak), and by the fact they're triangular in shape. I don't find them very comfortable to use.

Yes please 🙏 I would like you to do a “budget pencil series. I have a set of those “pencils that shall not be named” that I got, at least 6 or 8 years ago, when I actually started colouring on the cards I was making. My late Mum bought them for my birthday/Christmas present. They were around the £100 mark then!! Hence the combined gift. I’m not that keen on them 😮 a bit too “smooshie” for my liking.

I LOVE that you keep it all in ONE video so I don't have to spend my time searching for all the 15 different parts!!! I love the way you do your channel, though I do wish you were nicer to yourself, I argue with you a lot when you say "I'm so stupid," or the like. :( Every time, I cringe, feel sad, and I say, out loud, "No Lucy, you're human and you're perfect." Lucy, {anyone else that does this, we ALL do this from time to time) For 28 days will you try this challenge?? Because it matters, you matter, and the people around you matter. These seemingly "through away" comments affect everyone. Try this for your sake as well as humanity's PLEASE! You are well worth the effort!! At first it may feel awkward/uncomfortable; it's ok, keep doing it! The Challenge: When you want to cut yourself down, instead think what you would say to a child or best friend if they said they were stupid; and say that instead. You really are a lovely human and I hope one day you will see it too!! Because, our words are energy and our bodies are energy and every negative thought/spoken word does real damage to our cellular structures so be nice more often than critical, your whole being will begin to feel better! Practice not perfection we don't scold ourselves for slipping up, we notice and move on otherwise we are still projecting negative vibes to OURSELVES!!

YES PLEASE for the budget colouring! In the bottom of the world, ALL the pencils starting with P are phenomenally expensive! you can triple the prices you pay there. And you can get such lovely results with the budget pencils. I too am sick of comparisons with the "P" pencils (pencils on P = lol, P is meth here...). Specially when NOTHING is like them! I tried my sisters' ones. I didn't like the transfer between pages after colouring...

I am all for pencils being numbered 1-100 in a set. I appreciate that the colours relate to the companies system and 745 is part of it, but I will and have spent way too much time over thinking it. But as a potential customer, the weird number systems are annoying. I am all for the budget pencil series. Because production has gotten better and lets face it, cost of living is biting. Also if you can make a page look amazing with a quantity budget set, then the professional pencils are going to be easy. Edited because I sent too quick. But thank you for your video. 🎉

I despise the Spectrum Nior colour blends, OMG my hubby got me the FULL set & there are the worst pencils I have ever used! Was curious would you say there soft like the Black Widow sets & would those be able to be used with each other? I love FB they are a wonderful company. And that other pencil that starts with a P I personally don't like.

I compared the numbers on your chart against the Polychromos but there's no match, unfortunately. FC are usually quite good at cross-medium matching!

Hello Lucy, just a quick tip for you. During your swatching, I noticed that you were holding some of the pencils in the wood part next to the nib! Makes me cringe when I see you doing this. This is why the nibs kept breaking and it is very bad for your hands. Always hold your pencils at least one inch away from where the wood ends and further down the pencil for light coverage. I have never had a problem with pencil nibs breaking with any type of pencils. Hope you can get into the habit of doing this. x

You are the second person who has said she doesn’t like the Koh I Noor!!! They are definitely better than Prismacolors, definitely. I am not a fan of Brutfuners or Shuttle Arts either. I also don’t like the squares, sorry. I LOVE the Artists too. I’m colouring my butterfly with my Black Edition whilst you are swatching. I’m not feeling the triangular shape. I’m hoping the universe will send me some round barrels soon.

Looks like you need to get your budget pencils out. What happened to the Arteza pencils, nobody is using them now? Poor budget pencils getting unused. There is no pencil I don't like. Lucy it is time you pioneered the budget pencils. Also you need to use your Koi-i-noor, Brutfuner, Shuttle Art and Derwent Artist pencils. You can and will test and show these pencils do work well.
