I just can't leave this Video without shouting out LOUD at Dan for this massively informative BEGINNERS Guide :) This is by far the BEST Tutorial explaining all about EQ + CIRCULAR MIXING Mistakes + Masking Frequencies so clearly.... Will watch this again & again to refresh in future.... God Bless you for all the efforts in putting this piece of Gold together !!! Cheers.. :)

by far, the best intro to EQ i've ever seen! simply superb! so helpful... a HUGE thank you!
Pretty good guide. I'd say add in 1-2khz for piercing on certain female vocals.

I'm always so happy when a new Dan Worrall video shows up in my video feed :-) Thanks for sharing your knowledge in such an awesome way with all the attention to detail and always well thought out presentation! Looking forward to part two! :-)
@ononearts3 жыл бұрын
Between this and Part Two, you have given me a methodology I never had before. I began applying it to remix older material I had not been happy with, and the difference, to use a cliche, is like night-to-day in distinction between instruments, clarity, and depth. Instead of poking about vaguely and blindly referring to online EQ charts, you have given me a process and, with it, confidence to arrive at more pleasurably listenable mixes. Thank you, Dan!!! You make beautiful tutorials.

I love this Fab Filter channel. The presentation is just spot on. And a large part of it is the voice over work. I love watching these and learning from them.

This is absolutely amazing. You explain this basic fundamental in such a palatable way. Thank you so much.
@TheHutchMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I enjoyed this both for it's educational value to me and Dan's delivery. A perfect friendly non-patronising voice helps so much in my opinion. Often presenters try far too hard to impart their personality over the real goal or over exaggerate the product. Dan's balance of detail explanation is just right for me and he is a real asset to FabFilter's support channels. More please. :-)

I need more vids like this one. I watch tuts all day and rearly learn anything other whats new and how the knob works. This explained a lot but more importantly it showed how it can be used. Please keep making these. Like said below we need one by you with the C pro 2. I know that all the features do but I want to see someone else use it. Thats what noobs like me need.

thank you so much!! such a great start to the video, referencing the analogue mixing board before even getting into the plugin

I would love to see a video just like this about compression. I want Dan to do it just like this video where he actually starts off with some hardware, and then translates the same techniques to the software.

One of the best ear training exercises I’ve had is live mixing, in a setup without a PFL option (soloing on a reference speaker to avoid interrupting the mix). It forces you to *always* mix within the context of the mix.

Great exercise - I find the autogain function counters my sense of perception adjusting to the imbalance, allowing me to focus on the effect of the increase in frequency without so much added volume complicating it

very good tutorial. EQ is the tool I always think I know and the more I go the less I know. It is a lifetime education to learn how to EQ properly and have taste for what sounds good while also having the knowledge of what will sound good in most speakers..

The analogue console required a true experienced professional that was the most important difference, while any equipment in digital realm can be used by anyone after making a short training. Of course for amateur results good for social gossip products. By the way thanks a lot for the very easy to follow and exhaustive tutorial

Okay, I've become hooked on this FabUlous series of tutorials. This is some of the most valuable content I've discovered in quite a while. Dan is utterly brilliant, so it came as a very pleasant non-surprise when I saw he's using REAPER. Of course he's using the most innovative and flexible piece of software I've ever encountered. It sets the bar for all software developers in so many ways. It should be studied as part of every computer/software engineering curriculum. Of course someone as talented and intelligent as Dan is going to gravitate toward something as revolutionary as REAPER. Well done all around, Dan, and much thanks to you for another amazing tutorial. I'm not going to be getting much sleep for quite a while. My eyes are already getting hazy. I love it!

thx for the video, but it's often hard to get a real appreciation for what kind of diff you are or aren't making because you keep talking over the sounds, with only the very briefest of pauses if that...suggest a little more pause action so we can "listen in" a little more :)

Favourite Frequency Syndrome abbreviates to FFS, which is probably what you end up saying once you realize the damage you've done when eqing everything in isolation. "Oh For F***'s Sake !"
