I have a Tiki Hut sign on a huge timber bamboo piece and a pair of Carolina Wrens made a nest in it this spring. It was cool until two weeks after they hatched it was time to fly for the babies. Two did fine. The third flew up and bonked its head on the porch rafter. Luckily it made it to the patch of bamboo where the family was waiting. The fourth one was going to fly but wound up hanging upside down for a minute, then made it back in. About 5 minutes later it flew out but went right into my house. The cat saw it but my daughter was faster than the cat. She had to take it to the bamboo patch and put it on a branch. The dang thing flew right onto her shoulder then onto the fence then back onto the porch. She managed to catch it again and by then the family had moved to a clump of trees. She took it out there and had to stay for about 20 minutes until the baby finally got its bearing and flew up where the rest were. It was so cool. I don’t know how all 5 of them (6 when dad was home) managed in that tiny nest area.
