Watching the homeless pack should show the experts trying to help them how unorganized they are. One item at a time is handled and sometimes it is the same item time and time again as they are stalling and waiting out the sanitation crew so they don’t have to move. The items are mostly unnecessary for a homeless person, pretty much junk.

I moved to Venice beach when I was 19 and lived on park/speedway right smack dab in the center of it all. It was amazing. That was in 1994. So much has changed since then. I’m so glad to see they’re cleaning it up after the past few years of decay. I feel for the homeless, but the boardwalk is so important to the local economy. It’s a Los Angeles icon. Fun fact: I payed $475/month for my studio back then!

Just throw it on the ground and let the city clean it up when they do housekeeping for the bums living for free at the beach. Believe it or not it's their "stuff." It's why there are so many packed storage lockers filled mostly with junk. They get their stuff ripped off and reciprocate all the time. Plus you need stuff to mark your spot, like leaving your hat on a chair. In short it's all they have to call their own.

The state of homelessness isn’t necessarily because of finances. There may be drug use, mental illness, hoarding tendencies or legal issues including evictions that make it difficult to be approved for housing. Then it could be as easy as they don’t want to abide by anyone’s rules but their own. Landlords should not have to put up with that kind of renter.

They started raising the rent, some of then got fired from their jobs, they couldn't paid rent anymore so they didn't have any other choice than living on the streets. 95% of them are not criminals. It's too bad the city doesn't have the resources to do what mine does. There are several undeveloped lots/parking lots that they allow the homeless to set up shop in. They also provide facilities for toileting and garbage collection. The only thing they have to realize is that when the lots are going to be developed, they have to move along within a day or two. Police/homeless support workers are also on hand to help with relocation.
