I read that only 3 homes have been rebuilt in Maui since its fire in 2023. The slowness is being blamed on red tape. All of Hawaii got a black eye from that disaster. When Notre Dame burned in 2019, it didn't help the image of Paris. Same thing with 9-11 & NYC. Or hurricanes in central Florida, Katina in New Orleans. The one thing that will hurt LA's image even further (along with crime or homelessness) is if the Palisades, Malibu & Altadena remain a moonscape way too long the way that Lahaina is.

The same will be true in Los Angeles due to the vastness of the destruction. Workers will come, but where will they live? Rents are already shooting up because so many residents have been displaced. The only image Trump cares about is his own. He lies to aggrandize himself and demonize others. If Trump scares off undocumented workers that will only add to the cost and delays.

Your videos and documentation of this disaster are impressive but at the same time very, very sad. But what hasn't been seen is heavy equipment and truckloads of debris (except burned vehicles) being hauled away to landfills. Is debris removal taking place?

It's private property. You can't just start bulldozing it. Families couldn't immediately access their homes or what was left of them. If they're insured the insurer will probably want to see the site before things are removed/scraped. I haven't watched much footage, but I did see some homes with roll-off dumpsters in the street. The type of dumpsters with an open top used for construction that can be carried away by a truck.

The boots on the dog are to prevent foot injury from sharp objects in the debris; they are absolutely necessary. Dogs walk on both their blunt claws and their pads so boots can be strange for a dog.

It's not that they have don't have the money, they didn't want to do it. You are not allowed to go past your property to clean/clear anything up. So there is a buildup of dead brush, with houses that are to close. Apparently there is no forest management.
