Most thorough, best analysis of games i've seen - at the cost of time.

The way you explain the game development is quite in a pedagogical fashion. Good for us non-masters to learn more about the chess strategy. A master pieace of chess-teaching pedagogical work!

Really interesting how the offense and defense changes throughout the match, especially right before move 29 when it looked like white was jammed up and black was about go on the assault. That knight move and smart pawn takes undermined the whole thing. Brilliant. Thank you for this excellent analysis!

Very nicely commented! Thanks for the insights, Jerry. I enjoyed the variations utilizing the black- and lightsquared counter strategies of black, especially. Since we didn't see them at the board, these ideas are easy to miss.

After knight sacrifice by white Nakamura said that he would prefer black because they do not have to prove anything and have a pretty straightforward defense, despite of the fact that white are objectively better though. Hence, we can assume that Nakamura will never go into such pieces sacrifices. Caruana said after the game that this piece sacrifice would lead to a plenty of fun in the game, so he decided to go to that. After this tournament Caruana will definitely get a lot of fans, because of his hard-working and beautiful style of chess.

I think it is unfair to use Nakamura's quotes out of context. It all depends on the position. Naka has and will continue to make brilliant sacrifices but Caruana is just on another level at the moment so he is seeing everything even though other great players (Aronian, Carlsen, etc..) are missing things.

Since this position appeared in the Chessbase magazine I adored it. I was looking for this game, till by God's grace I got it from you. Nice work. You work just the way I like. One of the most amazing modern games I've seen.

Machine like precision at the end, amazing game from Caruana and excellent analysis as always Jerry. Thanks for going over black's Be6 move. I thought black simply wanted to control d5 with the f pawn. Didn't realize there was more to it.

A suggestion for black (by Stockfish) is to take the dangerous knight on move 21. ... Bxg5 22. Bxg5 Rdf8 and it's pretty equal now. The move played (21. ... Rf6 is imho the losing move of the game).

It was like Kasparov's games. The opponent's pieces aren't there when he starts to attack in the kingside.

After 35... Rf8 I think the continuation wouldve been Qg6. If Rf4, then the e pawn is hanging and if Qe8, then you have Qxe8, Rxe8, g4, Rxh2, Kg2, and the rook is trapped. I think thats why he played Kh7.

Great analysis of Caruana's steamrolling streak in the 2802 tourney! Question: is it due to the tourney's schedule that your videos are being uploaded in the morning following the tourney? Just curious :)

Even thougth i am not even close to beeing a good chess player i think that aronian over reacted to a simple relocation of the queen on the king side and cometed his own king into the attack by moving the g pawn..
