Get chills watching him with a jo. Was not there but been told by many teachers and professors about him drawing a small circle and standing in it and remaining in it while not one but three of Kennedy 's bodyguards were trying to take him done for about 2 and 1/2 minutes. And to some of the other comets, THIS WAS A DEMONSTRATION!!!

As the years have gone by I have posted many, let’s just say, “revealing” things about aikido. But at this point, I just want to say, Morehei was an old guy who needed a soft system to not get broken. So, he probably adapted aikido as a way to keep training with minimal risk. I’m sure that he probably realized it’s ineffectiveness in a real fight but he enjoyed martial arts and wanted to keep practicing. Unfortunately I have met some aikido participants of a higher degree that consider a shoulder pin on a willing opponent a ‘win’. Not everybody is humble or smart but in essence, to me anyway, aikido is advanced judo for the elderly.

You need to study Aikido to understand its true meaning. Not every martial art is a form of fighting.

your mind concerning Aikido seems shallow , are the Gracies old fighting men because that's Aikido , your commenting not knowing the subject . depending on the teacher Aikido goes from a soft form to keep pupils to brutal forms with ground fighting an breaking things like necks , hit the books a bit more .

Hi Fabien, we are the Takemussu Institute, aikido school in Brazil and you find the content of this video very interesting. We would like to know if we can read subtitles in Portuguese so that Brazilians who practice aikido can understand the video.

I'm sure it's staged. You can see it with the naked eye. And what beautiful and effective falls. 22:50 The student gives himself to the master. It looks beautiful and sophisticated at the same time, but also unreal in reality.

@@StarkRaveness it's unrealistic training or not. If it doesn;t work in real life there's no point training for it. That throw at 4:00 is completely unrealistic against someone who put actual resistance. It won't take 10 people to overwhelm him. Probably 1 or 2 guy will do. These students were compliant and that's why the techniques worked
@StarkRaveness
@StarkRaveness 2 жыл бұрын
@@snkhuong I disagree. How can you prove any of this stuff doesnt work or the instructor couldnt deal with a real life situation at all? Fact is you cant and you judge something from your based on your own experience and opinion. The demonstation of ten people falling down is not meant to simulate a real life situation is meant to demonstrate "internal" energy, being soft, how to control and direct movement, take the motion somewhere. You too miss the point.

@@StarkRaveness all I want to see is how this works in a real life situation. If you want to ride a bicycle you need to learn to do it on a real bicycle not one of those exercise machines one. I've never a seen a single youtube video of akido that works in a real life situation or in a sparring match. If I don't see proof that something works I assume it doesn't work until I do. I think it's dangerous to mislead people into thinking they could defend themselves against 10 guys but in real life if 10 guys attack you you should run away
@snkhuong

I did aikido and it's a very misleading martial art if you can call it that. There were lots of women there since aikido was advertised as 'you can defeat strong people while being weak'. So we barely did any conditioning work and I'm sure everyone there had shitty cardio and muscles strength compared to the Judo dudes upstair. Imagine if one of those women get attacked in real life and they try one of those fancy moves on a dude that was just throwing a hook at her (btw I don't even see any defense against straight/hook in aikido), her life could be in danger

@mikem6280

Didnt almost fail at all. The MP is obviously not skilled in ukemi. The pulling in of his own arm was to relieve pressure the only way he could react to do so. Then watch him just fall like a sack of taters when the technique was released. Bottom line, if used on the street it would be much like that kind of response from the "uke" because they are not skilled in the art.

Aikido today is not something you learn to be able to defend yourself in real life. The main reason is that it does not ever allow sparring so it's always one person throwing or submitting another. The so called opponent never fights back. On the contrary hé/she cooperates 100%. The demonstrations are impressive but if you watch closely you see that the person throwing always wins. So the aikido practitioner goes into the real world having never practiced defense against an attacker. It looks good and I agree it's peaceful and not meant to hurt anyone but what good is it as a martial art. It has te techniques that could be useful in a fight but those techniques are used anyway in other styles and they are almost exclusively wrist locks. Watch the video. The opponent does zero to stop the wrist manipulations. He extends his arm for the master to grab and never even attempts to withdraw or defend in any way. So what is that? A dance? They also teach knife defense and that is a very bad thing because again the person attacking with the knife never really tries to use the knife. He just sticks out his arm that hold the knife and waits to be subdued. Imagine a student who confidently goes out at night thinking he is invincible and is attacked by a bad guy wielding a knife. Instead of screaming and running in the opposite direction he will try to use his aikido. The problem is that for the first time the bad guy will actually try to stab him. Aikido must be taught with the student being told that he is not learning a practical,self defense system. I can see that a practitioner training for decades eventually might have a chance against an untrained or drunk attacker that does not have any ability. "We practice aikido for peace" what does that mean? We do it because it can't hurt anyone who is training with you who does what he is supposed to do. If the entire world did it then it would work but so would tiddly winks or shuffleboard. Come on, how did so many people buy in to the fantasy. Come to my dojo to learn how to defend against attackers who are your friends who cooperate with you and never try to hurt you. How did this guy con so many people into wasting their time. At least brazillian jiu jitsu can be used to defend against attackers without hurting them badly and can be effective after 6 months to a year, depending on the person. Watch the attacker who doesn't ever actually attack.

oh STFU - BJJ is also a MA that is not practical by itself, it is something to be used in combination with other MA.

@@StarkRaveness It's true. The vast majority of people tend to idealize BJJ as a "THE" martial art, which is the beginning of disaster. I know this because I have witnessed decent practitioners confident in their abilities on the ground take a memorable beating courtesy of an _"unexpected entry"_ of a third chap on the scene. A real fight is never going to be fair. Its pure chaos and there is no martial art that teaches you to deal with all the possibilities. If you survive a true fight, 100% sure that you come out in medium to greater extent: stabbed, crushed, beaten, semi gutted and with two or three fewer teeth.
@sylvanusjoseph1140

I agree and disagree. BJJ however surprisingly to many not entirely effective as some would believe it to be. There are so numerous recorded and eyewitness cases of BJJ going to the floor and did not see the other attacker who joined in the fight to aid his friend. BJJ practitioners confident in their grappling whom many loose in REAL WORLD fights due to the concealed weapon that his opponent withdrew. So Aikido is in many terms a more practical look to Martial Arts. Yes its very beautiful to watch and yes the opponents are cooperative but BJJ is no better. Between Aikido and BJJ I choose Aikido. At least it is a martial art and the other simply a SPORT. I'LL GIVE IT TO BJJ, THEY MANAGE TO FOOL EVERYONE IN BELIEVING IT TO BE A STREET EFFECTIVE SYSTEM
