Honestly, from what Ben Foster said about this guy, it did not come as a surprise that he failed miserably. He needs to learn how to be a human being before a football manager.

Ben Foster in that same video basically said that friendly matches were meaningless. Rio said Foster lacked the winning mentality at Manchester United and it comes across in his podcasts, as well. Ben seems like a nice guy, but there are two sides to every story.

England won't win anything with Southgate he's too negative and tactically inept. The talent England has and still they struggle to win tournaments even playing at home and having the easiest cup run EVER to the final. Even Southgate selecting 12 defenders and 5 mids is evidence of how negative he is tactically. England should be winning games scoring 4, 5 or 6+ but he plays defensive which is a total waste to the talent on the pitch.

I remember it like it was yesterday. He was not very good at all for England. The football was not fluid and there was no room for flexibility. Gerrard, Rooney, Ben Foster and others have mentioned similar things in their respected bios, channels. He could not communicate effectively due to his level in English and he was far too strict. Good manager but a bad fit. Even for Real Madrid he was a bad fit, only used there for short term despite success. Every single tournament, except for the previous World Cup, I've seen England (fans, pundits, journalists) claim that they will win, can win etc. I like England, but they haven't won for decades. I mean, does anyone here remember watching the 1966 world cup? So, why is this still happening? Lol. But instead, a more humble approach of trying to go deep in tournaments, taking one game at a time should be the mantra (despite how boring it may sound, cliché). Not crazy expectations after winning all qualification games and thinking "we're going to win" or a complete meltdown the other way after a draw with Scotland for example. Football is a beautiful game. But it's also a crazy one. Players who are heroes today, are suddenly villains tomorrow...they can score at a final of a world cup to win it on top of the world, and then miss a decisive penalty in the next tournament against the Swiss and be labelled a bad player. Makes total sense. But having studied the football media in several countries, it's similar ("we can win") but at least other countries who have similar desires have won or have a history of consistently going deep in tournaments. Anything can happen in football. Just ask Denmark (1992), Greece(2004), Italy (2006 when no one thought they were good enough because of an "easy" run to the semi's), Wales 2016 semi's, Croatia 2018. Doesn't mean England will win it of course lol. Just means there's a chance...the same chance for several other teams.

Ill give you a reflection on Capello time in charge! he still doesnt speak the language which says it all ffs, cashed in, cashed in some more and won feck all! just like Sven with his big smash and grab pay off! the english fa are the biggest long running joke ever! Just one thing, why is the interviewer speaking to Cappello like hes in a care home?? ((back to the FA)) like much of every england manager ever wanted by the public never gets the job, Clough, Redknapp, instead england are paraded with these yes men types, establishment tools like Southgate, tools who are afraid of football because they played it as a time wrped centre back who smashed the ball out of the park in the six yard box! Hes not strong enough, he seaks a great game both in the PR dept and what people want to hear, but as for winning a tournament? he froze on the touchline in the euro final, he went missing, he looked bereft of ideas as his team of youngsters sank to a team they should have easily got a result against, their back four was older than the pyramids!
