Ngl the whole “it’s not the bike it’s the rider” thing is pretty in accurate. Go on a downhill track and do a race run on a downhill bike and a cross country bike and see the difference. Go do a couple laps on an xc course with a top of the line xc bike and then try it on an aluminum entry level bike and you will find that the bike makes up a lot more than 1%.

Skill Is Everything. Well I just got into DH biking but with a hardtail Specialized Pitch 650b which has 100mm Fork travel.
