Just the choice to be a male/female character. I don't really care about having a FULL character creator cause Fable has never let you do that, but it would feel weird to not be able to in a Role Playing Game. I don't think people are mad about being able to chose a woman, we all know a lot of people prefer playing as a female character given a choice, I think it's the lack of choice that's upsetting people. What I really want and what I haven't seen yet is the alignment showing our character's choices. It was about good/evil and a big part of previous games was that it reflected in our appearance. Hair loss/color, angel/devil wings, horns/halo, those were all unique to fable but we haven't seen any of it. Which is also concerning if Playground just threw that out so your character would look the exact same all the way through the game.

Agree but I prefer if the appearance change was more noticable like in fable 2 cause fable 3 it was only when fighting that the wing's appeared and there was more choices depending on purity and corruption

This game will not be a fable game without jobs and property to buy. I always loved the slice of life that the old games had, I hope they add the ability to run a shop this time imagine selling items you found on your adventures as a shop owner in your "retirement years" late game and just chilling. But that might be a stretch but I can still hope for the best.

I think the “villain” at the end is actually Theresa. She used the Spire to “create a world without suffering” some time after the events of Fable 3, something went wrong and created a world that was different from the old one but still had the same problems, and now she wants to reset it again. This would mean The Journey would now be considered non canon, but I don’t think people would care that much.

My guess, the Big Bad, is Scarlet Robe (with Humphrey's Cape), corrupted by the evil essance of what came to be known as "Jack of Blades". Humphrey will somehow sacrifice himself to save Scarlet, but become Jack of Blades in the process. Yeah?? Maybe?? I forget, is this game meant to be set before or after the 1st game?

I did notice that the woman in the portrait behind Humphrey's mace 1:16, looks to have a similar staff, gloves and cloak to the antagonist in the end of the trailer. A portrait Humphrey ripped the face off in shame perhaps. But not fully discarded, perhaps he has still hope for the good in her.

What if this is a new take on Fable 1. But instead, Teressa survived the raid, hence she turns into the red-capped badie. Her line where she says "I'm going to fix it this place" is teressas motto from the original fables. Trying to make Albion better/safer so no one had to suffer like her and her family in fable 1. She was practically evil for the sake of good for all fables. They also depict her with vambraces and a staff, Teresa wore vambraces and was a will user in the original games.

Part of me thinks that this new Fable game may actually take place near/around the time of the fall of the Guild. (Or perhaps right after) Again, no guns, which was one of the defining factors in the overthrow of the Guild. But also with the other trailer and how some people seem to maybe just hate you/heroes for being heroes. It might also actually be that this female hero who seems to be the main villain/antagonist, so far, actually disappeared to Samarkaan and is the one to bring back gunpowder to Albion, inciting the very revolution that destroys the Guild. Also putting you in the difficult situation of whether to fight the civilians in an (ultimately fruitless as we know from Fable 2) effort to save your fellow heroes and the people relying on you, trying to uphold the status quo. Or agree with her and see the possible corruption of the Guild/Heroes and help take it down. Made worse/harder with the knowledge of historical hindsight. I do think it is very possible that this game leads to the eventual dismantling of the Guild, with the question being which side of that history you’ll be on, and what your reasons for that too.

I think the trailer narratives are definitely a red herring, as you mention, and people are confused. He keeps saying 'she' and 'her' but I don't think he is referring to the player character but to an antagonist and it just happens to overlap with the actions shown by this particular player character during the trailer. It's a shame people are so quick to judgment these days (in some cases rightfully so) and resort to regurgitating things their favorite KZbinrs/Influencers say. Anger drives clicks and views and so many people are susceptible to it. They have a rudimentary character creator in their racing games...why would their RPG not have one? Silly imo.

I have to admit, I have low expectations for this release. The art style is beyond terrible, I mean what happened to the art style of the older games? What is it with these AAA developers and the pointless forced “realistic graphics” in recent times? Everything has become so bland and it all just melds together. Even cartoony games have to be “realistic” now, even 3D platformers when remade, or when they get a new sequel, they suck all of the color and life out of the art style and it just looks depressing. Maybe it’s the engine, but I know Unreal can do cartoony graphics, Fortnite is nothing but that. I don’t know which is worse, the mid 2000’s into the 2010’s era of grey, dark and gritty graphics, or this current bland “realistic” graphics trend we have going on right now. Does anyone else notice this? Is it just me? Am I the strange one for wanting individuality and charm? Also I don’t know how many of the original developers are working on this, or how they intend on innovating the gameplay of the older games. To me this just looks like Forspoken or some other fantasy-esc game without much going for it, it wasn’t really something which brings with it excitement from anyone other than the diehard fans. And considering the massive budget these games have, unless it can attract a larger audience, this might be a financial failure, and worst case scenario it could end up being the final nail in the coffin for the series. Hopefully the gameplay is good, but we won’t know until they show us, let’s just hope it isn’t dumbed down like Bethesda does with their games. All I know is that there isn’t anything special about the trailer, or about this game in general which really hooks you in, y’know? There are some game trailers which just make you want to play it, and this just isn’t it. I can’t really see this being popular, but who knows maybe I’m wrong. Fable was already a pretty niche series, but it had an identity all its own, now it doesn’t. Maybe that might change, but seriously doubt it. Not to be negative, just being honest, and looking at things from an objective standpoint considering the current gaming landscape as a whole. Only time will tell I guess.

You mate are WAY too optimistic with this game. I am not usually one to judge the book by its cover, but in the case of this game, I'll make an exception. The characters in that trailer looked hideous and strongly considering and comparing the two highlighted main characters together, it looks like this was done on purpose for "modern audience" reasons. Far as 'promising' features? If you are already familiar with how franchises like Dragon Age have already disappointed many of their fans (and the latest installment only worsen matters), you can understand why I am NOT holding my breath for this game.

It has happened far too many times with many beloved IPs and many of those IPs have fallen from grace and in some cases fallen into (or back into) obscurity. Fable wouldn't be the last to fall into that rabbit hole with this reboot.

@Skyrionn 1) it's hints towards deconstructionism with its dialog pointing out the tropes of the average hero, poking fun of what is usually what we get, in fantasy, yes it's good to go away from troupes, but to deconstruct it is a whole different situation, firstly the obvious face situation, yes faces are subjective, but saying "there isn't a trend in making ugly faces for political reasons" is false, look up the actress of ME:A and her face vs the model, then look up what the devs said about making her ugly on purpose, also consider their political alignment (which is obvious by their X account)(and by the devs that work there) whether good or bad usally aligns to the mindset that these ME devs had when making this decision, it can be assumed this is the same idea, which paints a bad picture of what they deem as deconstructionism, making a face "bad" looking doesn't deconstruct the handsome hero archetype, you didn't say anything about it, it's just a subversion, If the subversion is what be can expect we can look at subversions we get by others now a days, like the last jedi, I personally don't care about sw tbh, but it's has a great example of what I mean, the idea is to see what the fans think and theorize then change it to subvert it during development, if the Welsh woman saying "we hate you" is a hint about the fans hating her face, due to the camera shots in that scene, they may have had time to adjust to the feedback, meaning shallow subversions should be expected 2) a game company who has only made racing games is making it, yes they have devs from the witcher team on the team, but that's the minority of the dev team, meaning they dont have practical knowledge for a game that most likely going to be out of their comfort zones, and as such alot of theoretical rather then practical gameplay knowledge will be applied to this project, and combine that with years of work on the game, it distorts what can be considered fun to the devs, making a theoretically fun game, we seen this kind of gameplay with skull and bones, suicide squad and many other games with the same "on paper its fun" ideology, but yes they are taking their time making it but experience is still lacking there's another trend in gaming rn, to make games as big as possible, including the mad, I can see a game with a big map that looks pretty but has a whole lot of nothing in it, and let also consider the inexperience agian, making a racing game that has no upgrades, armor, weapon, esc, to worrie about, and now have to add all these in, it may lead to lack of content 📌(remember this pin) 3) Let's now talk about graphics, the graphics are very good, but that's also the issue, it is known that graphics are for the casual audience, (you can also say its bad to appeal to casuals instead of the og fans, but fable is dead af atm) to bring them in, but graphics are also know to be the most work intensive thing to add to a game, not only that, it also takes the most amout of resources to make it looking that good, we know these devs are amazing at making graphics, but we should expect this may be the thing they focus on the most, taking the most time, taking time away from the content and mechanics they should be focusing on 📌, we haven't seen any gameplay atm, and that's probably to cover for how it feels, what we only seen is most likely finisher animations, and that's to give you the idea it's going to be great gameplay without practical proof I can actially say more, but I don't want you to suffer, I get it, it's hard to read all this, especially if you don't like what your reading, but you asked, so I said a few thoughts processes, yes some political, but the world will shove it down both our throats, one way or another

Not an issue. 2) You're guessing that they can't make a Fable game because they've made racing games. Seems like a reach. Members of the old Fable team have been hired to work on this too. 3) The graphics look great and the combat sequences look like in game footage. Your whole argument is based on the same talking points as the hate bandwagon that is following the game. Nothing of substance. When the game comes out and it is terrible, I'll be happy to say it is terrible. But as of now, what you've stated are just not issues. As I said, you can easily just not play the game.

@Skyrionn 1) I didn't say I was mad, if anything I'm apathetic to everything, Infact I was just pointing out there is a political idea behind it, one thats even provable 2) yes devs can make games they never had a hand in making before, but considering what strengths they have they will play to them, making a pretty picture with little to make it truly fun and truly fable 3) we didn't truly see gameplay, we see pretty animations My whole argument is based on thing I've experienced time and time again with many other franchises i used to like, yes some of the talking points are based on the bandwagon, being 1), but it's also reasonable to suspicion, after all, why play focus on it, almost like they knew it was controversial, it had happened before in this industry I'm glad your willing to say your wrong if it is bad when it comes out, as am I willing to say I'm wrong if it's good when It comes out the only people who aren't willing to say when they're wrong are the sheep who stick with what others say, like audiences who have too much passion, and not enough lost Off topic, With respect, may I ask if you ever had something you liked, but those involved changed it to something you don't like?

We'll have to agree to disagree at this point then haha. I try to be as open a person as possible but I'm not seeing any issues. We have to wait until we see more, or the game comes out to actually form an opinion. Sure, I loved Game of Thrones and the final season was awful. I loved Marvel but I got tired of the awful writing. I loved Heroes but season 4 killed it for me. I used to be a huge xbox fanboy but I've seen how they've fallen over the past few years and I'm more of a pc person now.
