Years later after blasting every Vortigaunt in sight as a kid, only to realize growing up that they are actually quiiiite powerful when I saw them again in hl2. The episodes of them containing the gman or literally bringing Alyx back to life like... damn. The way they fight zombies or other enemies by literally grabbing them with one arm and WWB slam dunk them into the floor, gives you another perspective. I guess they gave a reasoning of their weaknesses for being enslaved before, cause if Gordon had to actually fight prime Vortigaunts they would of absolutely obliterate him lol. I theorize the Helicopter would be 100% useless on any world not identical to Earth, and therefore not used on any other worlds the combine invaded or attacked. It's designed to maneuver in Earth's atmosphere and gravity and likely has a combustion engine on it somewhere.. so without the right amount of oxygen it's not even starting up, and if the gravity is too low or too high, it's flopping all around or crashing to the ground spectacularly.

I feel like the combine within the cities like to mainly stick to traditional human vehicles like helicopters and apcs what's the exception seeming to be striders. It seems like they save the techno organic vehicles for outside the city. Of course, up until an actual war breaks out on the streets, then they use whatever they have. Maybe it's to not freak the ordinary populace out or maybe the techno-organic vehicles are too imprecise because of their biological components to be used in the city 🤔
