Of one day becoming a Content Creator. Sometimes he imagined himself as a noble Retrospective... or an insightful artist. And other times he dreamt he'd be a malicious troll. Legend still hold that the first day he tried to speak with his dad about this his dad “brushed him off“ and that was all that was said until one day, he got together all the camera and audio and video recording equipment he needed, and made this magnificent journey into what made for you all so great? Oh so he could have that conversation with his dad again and his dad would have to listen..

Just a quick note about Fable 2. You can revive your dog in Knothole Island. There is a tomb right before the first house that you can throw a person into and it will revive your dog. It is shocking how many people don't know about it, but I'm here to help.

Biggest disappointment for me in Fable the Lost Chapters is how if you forego the Sword of Aeons, you're given the opportunity to get the Avo's Tear right after which is just a reskin of the exact same thing, so in the end there's no actual sacrifice in power for going the good route
@SeviathTheHumanDrago

Fable 2 was basically my childhood. I would replay the game over and over and over again as a kid. Sure it was wonky, but that was apart of the charm. And yeah, it wasn't as flashy as the games my friends were playing, but I didn't care. It was the first game world I actually cared about. It still is one of my favorite games, even though I'm able to see it in a more experienced lens. The game isn't the best, but it still holds a place in my heart.

I'd have liked choices that were more than just "good or evil". For example, you find a vein of Adamant in the mountains, and have three choices. 1. Sell the ore for money (add 10,000 gold to treasury). 2. Mine the ore and turn it into weapons (costs 5000 gold, adds +100 to army offensive ability). 3. Mine the ore and turn it into armor (costs 5000 gold, adds +100 to army defensive ability). Instead of a moral choice, you can get money, better soldiers, or tougher soldiers. That'd have been interesting.

I just played through fable 1 - 3for the very first time during past couple of weeks, really liked 1, absolutely wildly liked 2 and 3, well I started almost hating it and now as I'm wrapping up things after beating crawler it has grown on me quite a lot, I still don't like it nearly as much as 1 and it is so dissappointing in so many aspects.. I have no idea why it is so dumbed down and reduced when it had the potential to be an absolute masterpiece 🤷🏻‍♂️ I guess the success of 1 & 2 went to molyneux's head and what resulted was this failed experiment of an egomaniac..

19:30 so the fact that the general exp has to be gathered is actually for the purpose of building up your combat multiplier as high as possible before collecting to maximize leveling. The dog thing is pretty simple; Praise should encourage the dog to do a certain action, and punish should be you telling the dog not to do it. So during the beginning of the game you have dog try a few things to see how you react to it; if you praise it for say scaring random innocents it will begin doing this more, this becoming a more evil dog. At least that's how I would have done it. Kinda like the old Black and White games.
@dylandickie2013
@dylandickie2013 2 жыл бұрын
The thing is, Lionhead had that down in Black & White with the Creature. If the Creature was either setting villages on fire or giving them food, you could gently pet it to reinforce the behaviour, or beat it to within an inch of it's life. I think they liked the Creature in B&W and wanted to bring something like it to Fable when they got more involved in F2, but I don't get how they managed to not get it quite right. Still, based dog, taking a bullet. In the Spire neither money nor innocent slaves matter, not even my wife or my sister, only dog.

So I played Fable 2 first a long time ago, and then 1 and 3. I have to say that I was never able to put the admiration (early) and distaste (later) for the story-based character perspective into words like this and I am absolutely grateful. Fable as a series has a super special place in my heart and I'm very glad to have found this video (these videos). Not only were they nostalgic but I was able to agree and disagree with a lot of points and it felt like a calm and relaxing discussion instead of loud opinions. Top merits, great video. Fable 2's prologue is something on another level of emotional engagement. It touches on the childlike, whimsical nature of childhood and the harsh realities of adulthood. Turning that corner and seeing that hovel really puts into perspective how the world has become a harsher place without magic and wonder. Sure you could argue that good choices or bad choices don't make enough of a difference this time around, but that's so true with life as well. Either choice is irrelevant to the state of their living conditions; orphans on the streets of Bowerstone. The state of Albion has decided so much of people's fate, and that's a recurring theme in the game as well.

not really a "masterpiece", the boasts meant nothing (both gold and reknown could be had in gobs easier), the entire morality system was fairly pointless as you could easily just kill guards or donate the 1848978578389 gold you have for points alot of absolute absurdity (JoB is a famous hero, the grand total of 3 references to him in game are that he is a hero....grab the arch? ZOMG JOB IS OUUUUT FOR THIS ITEM) journal entries that shouldn't exist (did you know you were walking into a trap after the arena? no? well then read your quest logs, it literally tells you things you shouldn't possibly know) the entire aging system (all that exp they literally hand you? spend it the wrong way and you end up 30+ looking for your older sister...who's in her 20s) combat even when it was released was a trainwreck that could easily be cheesed (you can easily have near infinite mana and just lightning stun everything into the ground the entire game) the absolute only decent thing about it is the story, and it is a fairly generic fantasy/DnD one you could find in a million and one books and campaigns even before the 90s it was a fun game, but it wasn't a masterpiece or some spectacular thing, one of the best things in the series is that someone killed the guildmaster and carved "your health is low" into their forehead

My favorite memory of Fable was at Blockbuster. My friend and I really wanted to rent Fable, but we were both way too young to rent a Mature game. I managed to convince my dad to let us rent it, telling him that the game was all about making choices, and you could choose to be good. My dad made us promise to only make good choices in the game, and he rented it for us to play. Of course, I'm too chicken to make evil choices in games, since I tend to feel strongly for the characters. It's still a funny story to think on, since it introduced me to one of my favorite series ever. Fable 2 is my personal favorite.

Regarding pure mage in Fable: TLC Slow Time and Heal carries the early game and Fireball, Lightning, and Pillars become your main kit about the point of the White Balverine quest. This results in the early game feeling slow (get it), but you actually end up broken powerful. Magic doesn't need augments to do damage.

The dog isn't necessarily permanently dead if you choose one of the endings that DOESN'T bring your character's family back. If you have the Knothole Island DLC, you can sacrifice an NPC at a place called "Cheet-Urs Tomb" to bring your character's dog back to life. The tomb doesn't show up until the post-game though for obvious reasons.

I think the credit Fable deserves isn't necessarily for bringing choices into games and making them a central part of the experience, but for doing so in a more streamlined way and in a game that feels more like an action/adventure than a "hardcore" RPG. After all, we had many great games with interesting choices, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Planescape Torment but, for one, they were all mostly on PC, then known to be a platform for more complex and ambitious games, and for two, they were all seemingly too complex for the average gamer. Fable did a great job at bringing some of that complexity of hardcore classic cRPGs into a much friendlier and simpler format, which had a huge impact on gaming as we know it.

Great video man, very very interesting insights and perspective! I really enjoyed how you presented the stories as seen through the eyes of your characters. It really added something unique to the narration. The first Fable was basically my introduction to the world of video games and playing it is an experience I treasure to this day! I only played Fable 2 once, in coop on the Xbox of a friend, but it was great as well. Seeing it summarised here brought back a lot of very fond memories, as well as a fascinating refresher on the story. Regarding Fable 3, I think the whole sequence when we arrive in Aurora and are introduced to the Crawler for the first time is one of the most impactful video game moments of my life. It was so immersive and atmospheric!

Fable 3 was my introduction to the series, and I loved it! I loved the industrial era setting, the music, art direction, humor and narrative. It really felt like no other fantasy game before or since, and I hope the reboot is able to keep that. I get why a lot of people would like the new game to return to a more folklore/medieval aesthetic like the first one, but I hope they manage to work in some of that cheeky 1700s/1800s style, because for me that's what made Albion a world worth exploring in the first place.

Game was sub-par and naturally sequels are supposed to be an improvement of what came before and introduce something new and fresh. Fable 3 is none of those. I couldn’t play past the first few parts of it whereas I could play Fable 2 till 3am when I was a teenager. It massively boring. Not to say that Fable 2 was perfect either because if you enjoy 3 then that’s okay but you must acknowledge the problems it has that actually hurt it’s lifetime overall.

It was good until I got to the ruler part then I was annoyed but I kept doing it and had almost enough money to save everyone then the game skipped the last two months of the count down so half the population died and everyone hated me cuz I made them pay max rent so I could save their ungrateful asses. I loved the game almost as much as lost chapters then that happened and I preferred 2 and I hated 2 for getting rid of my decapitating long bow for a stupid gun.

I have two main grumbles with the game. One, the kingdom management is too simplistic and too binary for my tastes, and requires you to either be evil to save everyone or spend a decent chunk of time grinding up enough cash to start up your real estate empire...admittedly you might be doing the latter anyway but its still a very black and white section of the game that feels too shallow for what its supposed to be. Two, it is impossible to get all the legendary weapons without delving into online co-op, which I dislike as a matter of principle in my single player RPG.

It's been ages since I last played any of the Fable games, but I remember not liking really anything about Fable 3 aside from the story, characters, and some side quests. The lack of GUI for equipping stuff and leveling your character, while novel, was cumbersome. The grind you have to do to get your weapons to look the way you want it to was annoying. I didn't like the dumbing down of the magic system. The Demon Gates weren't as fun or challenging. There was just a whole lot of choices in the game that I didn't like, and I only had 2 playthroughs on a used copy of Fable II and no Fable I experience before picking up Fable III.

I think it's got the most satisfying combat flow to it, yeah. Fable 3 has some neat little additions but is a bit too simplified, and Fable 1 has more complexity and weird fun shit you can do, but more jank as a result. The former maintains a comfortable mediocrity, the latter has higher highs but longer lows, while Fable 2 is just satisfying to a pretty good degree throughout.

Still wish the "Punish" option for the dog was more a behavior adjustment tool that just encouraged them not to do things you'd prefer they not do, rather than a senseless "kick the dog trope" button. For example, in Dragon's Dogma, you can have "conversations" with your Pawn to make them more or less inclined to rattle off 24/7 about every little thing they see, or rather ungracefully attempt to alter their proclivity for certain forms of combat. It might have been difficult, but Punish could have just been a firm rebuke if, for example, frequent and loud barking was not something you wanted them to do, or them charging into the fray, or running off in cities or something, but Fable's Evil has always been far less about Order than many other works of fiction.

It's depressing because in my opinion, Fable: The Journey was by far the most complex story wise. Seeing Theresa's motivations and her complex reasoning for doing such horrid things was suuuuper compelling, and Gabriel coming to terms reluctantly about becoming a hero was super good. Could be better, but still good. Honestly a shame it wasn't just a full fledged fable game, I liked Gabriel as a character.

To answer your question in the beginning, no, it wasn't the right thing. A true hero would've took that Nymph on no matter what. If someone didn't stop the thing then what would stop it from potentially stealing more children? It wasn't about just rescuing the boy at that point, it was about battling evil. Any true hero would stand up to it, no matter the odds. Then again, maybe your hero was nervous, and unconfident. Unsure if it could truly slay the beast and was too young to risk dying fresh from the guild. And that would be part of your story. That's what makes Fable awesome. Great video

omg gg on playing all the games at least twice to do this video, it's a lot of effort. especially when it comes to fable 3 and having to gather all that money. super well made video! i love to hear people talking about the game so passionately!! all the fable games had some good and some bad and it's a shame that this series hasn't had any successes with games after the third. nostalgia colors a lot of how i see fable, but to me the series has always had really great potential for being a well-built fantasy world with an interesting story. the draw was of course, the morality system, and it had some interesting mechanics to interact with the npcs. but it always felt like the lore had just enough to work with, to hint at there being more history and depth to the huge fantastical magical world, but plenty of space to explore and expand (like samarkand and aurora). i hope the new game explores more lands and somehow ties back into the magical part of the series. the bit of lore about pre-fable heroes like william black/scythe and the creatures of the void is very appealing and it would be cool if they talked more about that. i didn't mind the industrial revolution that happened in the series, but Heroes were whittled away to nonexistence basically and that was a bit disappointing. i'd love to see new magical creatures and enemies because there's only so many times you can fight hobbes, balverines, and hollowmen without getting tired of them. i agree with the salt factory, i'm hoping whatever happens with this new game, they stay true to the spirit of Fable, but if they decide to break the mold, then i hope it turns out really well and revitalizes the series like re7 did to resident evil. if they could just gather all the good bits of the entire series and put that into the new one (and maybe put in some new interesting bits), that'd be lovely.
