@@Rx7man We had a crow, in our area of Illinois, that had a white feather on it's wing. for years we saw a few more of them. Then the West Nile virus hit like 15 years ago. We lost so many black feathered birds. We still haven't recover our crow population. ( it was carried by mosquitoes ) a neighbor died from it too.

Funny... she can only croak when her beak is full berries. Really nice soul. Yesterday - when I looked up the trees... at the nests - could see the wing flap, tail going & 'cawww - caw' = feed me, feed me. Was a nice day

Fable is such a cool bird. She reminds me of the magpie we had when i was a kid ( an australian magpie.....theyre common here in nz too. Theyre apparantly not related to the corvids, but theyre smart, and look like them). She was "confined to barracks" when we were at school cos she used to terrorise the cats and attack the ducks without anything else to distract her, so she was locked into the aviary during the day( it was big.....it was built around the 6 ft stump of a dead nectarine tree) She hated it tho, and she figured out that if she lay on her back, squawking, the neighbor would come over to check and make sure she was ok, thinking she was sick or hurt, only to have her hop up, right as rain as soon as she got to the aviary. Drove her nuts but she didnt dare ignore her cos, as she said "the one day i ignore her, she really WILL be hurt"

Fable loves you ... & loves to catch ( most) of the blueberries ! And like one girl said, so cute , she helps herself to one berry ... Sometimes corvids do forget, like squirrels do when they hide their food😂 a magpie stashed a walnut in a date tree in my yard and it still hasn't come back for it! But let's face it, we too forget where we stash our snacks sometimes

@Tae Kim -- I've wondered much the same thing ! Somebody did a backyard study once and found that squirrels can remember the locations of about 84% of the nuts they hide. I've wondered if there is a similar figure for crows.

@@Niawen2011 I would imagine the figure is a bit higher, but then again corvids are smarter than squirrels so maybe having more to remember keeps them from remembering more stuff, lol. Then again, corvids can remember which caches theyve recovered and a bunch of other details so maybe their accuracy of memory is higher. They also tend to have a more spread out network of hiding spots to prevent other corvids from pilfering, i would love to see a comparative study between the caching habits of squirrels vs corvids.

My wife and I went to to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage, Alaska and I opened a cheese and jerky package in the car, while my wife was taking a picture outside of the car. As I'm sitting there, all of a sudden a Raven lands on the rear view mirror and just stares at me. My only guess is that he wanted the food, but I didn't dare let him have it. Honestly, at the time, I just thought it was a crow, but my wife said recently that it was a Raven and after watching your videos and comparing the photos, my wife was right, it was a Raven and it made the experience a little more precious in hindsight.
