I tried making one of these off another site's instructions and they didn't have the details you gave about size and the extra stitching of the sides and the one I made came out all wonky. So glad I found your instructional video because now I know where the other video went wrong and how I can fix things. So thank you very much! Great tutorial!

I've made quite a few of these ... slightly differently ... leaving the darts untrimmed. They create a little 'pocket' on the inside (or outside if you reverse it) if you don't want something small in your box to tip over.
@1vanurose5 жыл бұрын
Love watching and listening to you. One question, Tricia, you measured 3 1/2" in from each corner, that is for this square of 15" plus seams, but if I want to make a box bigger say, I cut a square 24 1/2", to make a box approx. 8" square, then would the corners still be 3 1/2" , or different. How do you calculate the corner angle for different size boxes. Waiting for your reply and then I can start cutting and sewing.
@lw79674 жыл бұрын
You could just pin the sides as to where you would like the corners, then just keep adjusting until you like what you see, mark & that is where to sew. Have fun! It really can be any size you want!

Hi Trish Thank you so much for this brilliant tutorial. I have only just discovered you this morning and I have already subscribed. I love your calm and precise way of teaching. I am a beginner at sewing but have cut two lots of fabric and am in the process of having a go. Just one quick question, I want to make a couple of these in different sizes as I want to make some 8 inch boxes for a little unit I have . Please can you tell me how I work out what measurement I need to use for doing the sewing to make the points and sides of the box for different sizes ? Hope that makes sense (where you do the 3.5” on this sample)
@peterstratten30872 жыл бұрын
Hi trish sorry to be a pain but I was trying to find (don’t know what it’s called) a ruler u use that positions squares of fabric smack bang in the centre of a larger square so they can be sewn to make quilting squares. Can you help? I saw u use it in a demo on Hochanda but don’t watch the channel any since Create and Craft took over and effectively ruined that lovely Hochanda family feel.

Does the triangle seam of 3.5” apply to a larger size? I think you started with a 15.50” square. Really great video by the way, only just found you and I will defo follow you. Thank you.
@sewtotallytrisha13504 жыл бұрын
Jenny N Yes it can do, and it will just give a larger box of the same depth. If you increase the length of the triangle seam, it will be deeper.
@susanjohnson90534 жыл бұрын
@@sewtotallytrisha1350 If I'm making a smaller box does the triangle seam have to be reduced!
