Any news if cross tenant source control is going to be possible. Our azure devops is on a separate tenant to our fabric

Woof, sorry. I have not heard anything about that. I do know that guidance a few years back shifted to move everyone into a common tenant and to no longer use multiple tenants within a company. So I am not 100% sure they will ever pick this up.
