A quick video explaining how I design and print the sewn-on patches for the 6oh5oh tees and hoodies.
The main goal of this process is to ensure that the top layer of the design is free from visible layer lines-I can’t stand them!
To achieve this, I print the designs upside down, with the face of the print in contact with the print bed.
By doing this, the design can imprint the texture of the print bed on the top surface, resulting in a smooth, clean finish without any layer lines.
Additionally, I use support material for the first white layers to create an embossed effect on the design. Once the white portion is printed, I pause the print job, replace the filament with a black version of the flexible PLA, and continue printing until the design is complete.
This printing process creates a two-tone texture for the design. The top white layer has a smooth, clean texture, while the black layers have a soft, velcro-like texture. This approach adds a special touch not commonly seen in other patches or sewn-on designs.
