Next Tuesday is my first off week, then I'll be back with a video on quilting the Jelly Roll Braid Quilt kzbin.info/www/bejne/nl7JYqeCfsZ4qK8 I made two and quilted them a little different, so I have two to share!

This was extremely informative; thank you! I made a rag quilt for my grand daughter that has some plain squares that I thought she might like have her friends embelish/sign as a keepsake. When I was researching the fabric markers I wanted to include with the gift, I eliminated the Stained by Sharpie as they specifically state "not water resistant!" I ended up buying Super Markers which had good reviews and was an Amazon Choice. Good to know about the Stained/Sharpie when replacements may be needed!

Thank you so much for this testing! I’ve tried using archive quality fabric markers and some other fabric markers and they are either so fine that you have to print out your words and go back over them or the tips are thick and make it look like it’s a grade school student labeling them. Or even worse, is that they fade after just one wash! This info was super helpful.

This is good to know, thanks for the demo on these markers..I purchased a pack of 4 labels that said Made By: and then I filled in my name with a Sharpie and it bleed. I was disappointed and did not even put a label on the quilt. I will be ordering labels that already have my name on it but this demo is good to know for the times I may just want to write or doodle on the back of a quilt for someone.

Thanks for this! I wanted an easier solution for labels for a couple of baby quilts. I have used the Tulip Fabric Paint Markers on reclaimed/ upcycled denim Christmas stockings, (the white only) and it they fit nicely in the stencil I used. They have held up for the last 10-ish years. We wash the stockings before we hang them and then again before they go away so that they are nice and fresh.

well, talk about good, or bad in my case, *lol. I had a terrible time deciding on fabric markers while literally spending hrs reading all the different ones on Amazon last week. Yes last week. I did buy the shuttle art fabric set, mainly because they said, acid free and fade resistant and there are 36 colors. I bought them bc my 4 yr opd grandsons are getting color me fabric quilts this coming year for their birthdays and I wanted them to have fun with coloring their own quilts. My daughter in law may have my head for this. he he sure wish I'd seen this one a day or two sooner. I came this close to getting the vrayola set, it was quite a bit more expensive and that stopped me. Oh well I know for me what I will buy for my own use. Thank You for doing the work and report.

Everything (except those paint pens) bled just a touch. Some were definitely worse offenders than others! I wonder if some fabrics might be better at preventing bleeding than others? Kona has a pretty tight weave but maybe it’s not ideal.
@deidrapowell87624 жыл бұрын
Why would you pick the stains by sharpie over the tulip paint ones? Also how do you heat set? Just found you. I have dime permanent fabric markers. Now I want to do this lol
@TinyOrchardQuilts4 жыл бұрын
I thought the stained by sharpie were a little easier to use and had a finer line. The tulip paint markers definitely had the best looking color but it would have to be a very big label since the lines were so thick. To heat set, you just run your iron over the written on fabric for a few minutes :)
@tanabeverly13064 жыл бұрын
Did you prewash your fabric? Also, did they bleed through to the back side? I love your video and the information. Thanks for sharing! (I also love the fact that you "use" your quilts)

Only the paint markers bled through-I did have a doubled layer of fabric though. I didn’t prewash for the first round but, obviously, the rest of the columns were washed. It didn’t seem to make much of a difference.
